History of the T-shirt

The t-shirt evolved from undergarments which were used in the 19th century, it was a one piece undergarment cut into separates so it made

a top and bottoms. The navy were the first ones to be issued t-shirt as

uniform.

T-shirts were still considered as underwear until the 1950’s when John Wayne, Marlon Brando and

james dean when on live TV.

All david and Goliath t-shirts are all individual you don’t get many t-shirt which are

the same.

Online T-shirt Printing

The internet has had a huge impact on online shopping and online

websites as there are many shops online which you wouldn’t find on

the high street such as www.asos.com, but then online

websites like topshop, river island and say jack wills have obviously

made a lot more money since having an online store.

Online printing is a cheap and efficient way of printing t-shirts, its also alot smarter as well as the way online printing works is they will put a picture up of a t-shirt people then order and then they print on demand so say 100 people ordered the t-shirt

thats how many they print.

Blood, sweat & T-shirts

The conditions which t-shirts are produced abroad are appalling as they get kids of a young age and make them work long days for

example 9-6 in poor conditions as well. Its mostly PRIMARK that use

kids from abroad to make their clothes.

There were several tv programs and news reports on

this particular problem and several people went out to experience the conditions

them self and it was horrific they said.

Stencils + SilkscreensStencils and silkscreen are used for printing designs on to t-shirts, they are two different ways of doing it and they both have different

problem and benefits.

The benefits of Silkscreen is that its and easy way of printing and also a lot cheaper however the problems with it

is that its a very messy technique if its not done properly.

Benefits of Stencils are that they are more precise and look better as they don’t smudge, however they are a lot more time consuming especially if its

spray painted.

Campaign T-shirts

There are several campaigns which use t-shirt to advertise there

campaign such as* The barack obama campaign

* Make love not war* Breast cancer* World peace

* saving the planet

I wouldn’t say that campaigns are really targeted at 16-19 year olds,

there are some which are probably for the audience 16-19 but most of them are for a variety of people its really who believes what and their rights.

My campaign i would say is based for a younger audience as its targeted for students, t-shirt are a good way of advertising a campaign however it does have to be clear what you are

campaigning for.
