This qualification recognises the skills and knowledge required to operate at tradesperson-level building and maintaining good quality civil infrastructure. The strands allow you to choose your specialisation in either Earthworks, Road Construction or Road Maintenance.

New Zealand Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Civil) (Level 4) with Strands in Earthworks, Road Construction and Road Maintenance

As you work through this qualification, you will gain the skills and knowledge to work safely to industry standards and specifications, as well as take responsibility for your own work and some responsibility for the performance of others on a civil worksite.

LEARN HOW TO • Work safely on an infrastructure worksite • Read site plans and carry out work to specifications • Operate machinery and organise materials needed for your civil site works • Communicate well within your crew

You will also gain specialised skills required for your chosen strand in earthworks, road construction or road maintenance. ENTRY REQUIREMENTSIt is recommended that you achieve the New Zealand Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Level 3) with an optional strand in Plant Operation or demonstrate equivalent knowledge. HOW IT WORKSIt takes around 21months to complete this programme. This qualification is achieved through a mixture of on-job assessment and off-job workbooks.

WHERE THIS CAN TAKE YOUThis qualification can lead towards Civil Trade Certification (CTC). You can also carry on to the New Zealand Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Single Site Supervision) (Level 4), New Zealand Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Projects) and New Zealand Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Contract Management) (Level 5).
