Jesus tells three stories in Luke 15. At the beginning of Luke 15, where we read:

[1] Now the tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to hear him [Jesus]. [2] And the Pharisees and the scribes murmured, say-

ing, "This man receives sinners and eats with them." [3] So he told them this parable . . .

• The parable of the lost sheep (Luke 15:4-7)

• The parable of the lost coin (Luke 15:8-10)

• The parable of the lost son (Luke 15:11-34)

Interestingly, the parable of the prodigal son, as we know it, and the parable of the lost coin occur only in Luke.

All three stories are on the subject of recovering the lost, which is the implicit explanation of why Jesus receives sinners and eats with

them: They are lost, and he wants to find them.

It is a great comfort to know that, even when we feel lost in sin, God our Father is waiting for us to come home; He embraces us, for-

gives us, and restores our dignity with a feast. The story of the prodigal son is a story if anything about forgiveness. Let us come to our

‘senses’ and celebrate the sacrament of reconciliation in this jubilee year of Mercy.

Jesús cuenta tres historias en el evangelio de Lucas capitulo 15, donde leemos:

[1] Ahora los publicanos y pecadores se acercaban a él [Jesús] a escucharlo. [2] Y los fariseos y los escribas murmuraban, diciendo:

We are in need of team of four ladies to volunteer to

help clean the altar every Friday around 9:00am for

two months out of the year. The months we need help

with are January & July. It only takes about one hour

are less to clean. It’s light cleaning such as, filling the

holy water founts, new candles for the main altar and

day chapel & etc. In other words setting up for the

MEET THE DEVOTED PARISH SCHOOL STAFF

Teresa Christian Burist is the Girls Physical Education

Teacher. She has a Degree in Kinesiology with an All

Level Teacher Certification from Texas A&M University.

She has been a teacher 10 years. She is married with 3

daughters, Simmone, Samantha, and Sienna. Her hobbies

include Arts and Crafts, yoga, running, soccer, and swim-

ming. Mrs. Burist states “I love teaching at STM because

it provides me with the ability to help children achieve

their best.”
