We hike through La Yesera (The Gypsum Quarry) where it is easy to admire in every direction infinite formations and their incredible colors. For lunch, we enjoy traditional cuisine in the warmth of this natural and majestic environment. Empanadas made from a recipe that has been shared from generation to generation are enjoyed with a glass of our high-altitude wine. La Yesera Hiking – Quebrada de Cafayate Full day

We invite you to join us for an unforgettable trip to an area with geography carved and molded by the wind and

sun. The route from Salta to Cafayate passes several tobacco plantations, multicolored hills, and named rock

formations among ravines such as El Sapo (the frog), El Fraile (the monk), Las Ventanas (the windows) with many

unimaginable shapes that we discover exploring the landscape.

In Quebrada de Cafayate (Cafayate ravine) our incomparable trip begins: a magical place where time seems to

stand still. We hike through La Yesera (The Gypsum Quarry) where it is easy to admire in every direction infinite

formations and their incredible colors.

For lunch, we enjoy traditional cuisine in the warmth of this natural and majestic environment. Empanadas made

from a recipe that has been shared from generation to generation are enjoyed with a glass of our high-altitude

wine.

We depart Salta at 7:00am and the journey will last approximately 3 hours to cover 172 km (107 miles) through

national road 68 in Quebrada de Cafayate (Cafayate ravine) with stops to take pictures and enjoy landscape in

Garganta del Diablo (The Devil's Throat) and Anfiteatro (The Amphitheatre). We begin our hike at the trailhead for

La Yesera.

Place: La Yesera (The Gypsum Quarry), Quebrada de Cafayate (Cafayate ravine) - Salta Level of difficulty: Easy active (beginner level; 2-4 hours of activity). Hiking: 2.5 – 3 hours. The soil is sandy at the beginning (dry riverbed for 400 meters) and it is the slowest part of the circuit which covers 6.5 km (4 miles). Low physical and technical difficulty. Activity suitable for people aged 12 to 75 who are in good physical condition.

Temperature: 14˚C 57˚F (the lowest) 26˚C 79˚F (the highest) Snacks provided: a cereal bar and a bottle of water (500 cm³) We recommend bringing another bottle of water (1 liter) with you.
