Lab Safety Scenarios
Work with your partners to determine and write down the following answers:0 What lab safety rules are being broken?0 What should the students have done
instead?0What should the students do now?
Lab Safety Scenario A
Sam and Max are lab partners. Mrs. Stabler is explaining the lab procedures
to the class, but Sam and Max aren’t listening, Sam is asking Max what the
homework is for Social Studies.
Now its time to start the lab, but neither student knows what to do.
Lab Safety Scenario B
Alexa and Mary are lab partners. They listened closely to the instructions Mrs. Stabler gave at the beginning of class, so they know exactly what to do. Mary has collected the lab materials, she wants to
make sure they won’t have to stop the lab for more, so she has taken double the
supplies needed.
Lab Safety Scenario C
Denise and Matt are lab partners. Denise wasn’t paying attention to the lab
instructions, and she has made a mistake while mixing some chemicals. Matt wants
to tell Mrs. Stabler, but Denise doesn’t want to get in trouble.
Lab Safety Scenarios
Work together to write your own lab safety scenario. We will share them with
the class to see if your classmates can determine what rules are being broken.
