This is carried out by a trained member of staff. ThePhysiotherapist provides therapy twice weekly, providingindividual as well as group sessions.

Occupational Therapy sessions are carried out four afternoonsa week. We also have an in-house hair salon and stylist for whichthere are no extra charge. For residents who enjoy a cigarettea designated smoking area is located within the Nursing Home.

A detailed care plan isdevised to suit the residents individual needs and carefulrecords are kept to ensure the resident receives all the careneeded as set out in their personal care plan.

The local parish priest celebrates mass in the homeevery week and administers Holy Communion everySunday. A privately set Oratory is available to allresidents who would like some quiet time for prayer andcontemplation.The home is also located close to the village church,shops, pub and bus stop, while visiting hours are onlyrestricted at mealtimes for the comfort of the residents.

All meals are prepared in a state-of-the-art, moderncommercial kitchen and preparation area. We prideourselves on our top quality home cooked meals andbaked products, such as home made apple and rhubarbtarts and crumbles, home made brown bread, scones,cakes, pies and quiches. All produce served at the LittleFlower Nursing Home is of the highest quality andsourced locally whenever possible. Residents areencouraged to part-take in the Green Finger activities. Alarge poly-tunnel is provided in the garden where fruitand vegetables are grown which in turn are used in thekitchen.

Services available to residents include Chiropody, Reflexologyand Physiotherapy. We also provide a Sonas workshop which isdedicated to Dementia and Alzheimer's residents.

The Little Flower Nursing Home is owned and managed by JoanGardiner Surman. Joan hails from the local parish and hasmanaged this 50 bedded home since 1999.The Nursing Home is surrounded by 3 acres of gardens whichare beautifully landscaped and maintained. The buildingcomprises 12,900 square feet and our bedrooms consist of 4single rooms en-suite, 12 single rooms, 4 double rooms en-suiteand 13 double rooms. There are also large sitting rooms anddining areas, wheel chair shower and toilets and a privateoratory close to sitting and dining areas. The large conservatoryto the front of the building provides a lovely seating area, and avisitors room which is tranquil and private. A high tech securitysystem has been installed and Joan prides herself on being ableto offer a secure yet visitor friendly home for residents who havedementia or Alzheimer's Disease. As well as offering secureaccommodation for long term residents, the Little Flowerspecializes in offering short-term respite care for peoplerecovering from operations or other illness. A residents'committee exists within the Nursing Home which provides

valuable feedback and welcomed suggestions.The Nursing Home is family run and a family atmosphere is veryapparent to all who visit or come to stay at the Little FlowerNursing Home.

The building is constructed to health board guidelines andfire regulations and it is architect designed for nursinghome living.Two large screen TV's are situated in the bright, spacious dayroom where sporting events, news and current affairs

programmes or your favourite soap opera can be viewedincomfort. Alternatively, every bedroom has its own TV pointshould a resident prefer to view their favourite shows in thecomfort of their own room. The highlight of the week is theTraditional music sessions provided for all birthday parties andother celebrations. This is hosted by Joans' father, PeterGardiner along with other local musicians. The large Day Room

provides the ideal setting for the set dancers.A public telephone is available to all residents and is located inthe front conservatory. Alternatively, Eircom can provide aprivate line to any residents bedroom. (This is not included infees).
