Is a tablet app tool to create, modify and assign Social Scripts.

A Social Script is a step by step process mostly used on ASD therapy.

The repetition of a social script helps a person gain independence and autonomy

Page 58: Labs summit 2015

● Developed under Project DANE: Project for digital inclusion

for people with special needs.

● For APAdeA, an NGO dedicated to improve life quality of

people with ASD (Autism spectrum disorder) and their

families.

● Intended to spread the Social Script method to help ASD

patients get a more autonomous life.

Summary

Page 59: Labs summit 2015

Every Social Script has a series of steps (slides), intended

to make a daily process understandable.

Features● Create custom Scripts.

● Add Images and Text to a Script.

● Take Photos: It’s better to show environments and

objects that the patient already knows, instead of

generic images. So the app allows to take photos to

customize each slide.

● Visualize Social Scripts curated by APADEA

● Customize them for a specific patient

This app was designed to help Japanese students practice the vocabulary by using cards. We challenge students to test their knowledge after practicing so that they get ready for the tests: JLPT level 5 (introduction).

The concept behind this app is simple and the objective is to give students a tool in which they can learn and test their knowledge of japanese.

All in the same place.

NOVA Astronomy Legacy Project

Page 85: Labs summit 2015

NOVA (New Argentine Virtual Observatory)

● An initiative of CONICET (National Scientific and Technological Research Council of Argentina)

● Goal: to achieve greater efficiency and productivity in the access, management and analysis of multiwavelength astronomical observations

● The astronomical information stored in the database is public and can be used by astronomers, researchers from other fields, students and the general public

http://nova.conicet.gov.ar

Page 86: Labs summit 2015

NOVA Astronomy Legacy Project● Information from stars and galaxies comes to us

as electromagnetic radiation.● A spectrogram is the visual representation of the

amount of photons received per wavelength (or frequency) interval

● Before digital cameras, photographic plates were used

● Terabytes of information are stored in media which is difficult to use

● NOVA has a project to recover this historical information

Page 87: Labs summit 2015

Recovery of photographic spectra

Step 1: digitize the photographic plates with a special scanner

Step 2: extract a bidimensional spectrum

Spectrum of the astronomical object (star, galaxy)

Comparison spectra

Wavelength

The grayscale intensity represents the amount of photons received by wavelength interval

Page 88: Labs summit 2015

Recovery of photographic spectra

Step 3: count pixel intensity lengthwise to obtain a 1D spectrum(both for the object and the comparison)

Page 89: Labs summit 2015

A challenging projectActual images are not as straightforward:● Several spectra per plate - need to isolate them● Spectra are rotated / twisted - need to correct

for rotation and warp● Identify the comparison spectra used● Several thousand images to process - need as

much automation as possible!

This requires the latest advances in computer vision● We’re developing an app to allow upload and

automatic extraction of spectra● Using Python and OpenCV● Work in progress!
