Philosophy

It is important to look the part as an official.This will help lend credibility to you with the teams

and coaches

You have to be in the right position to see the foul and make the right call!

Making a call

• C = Color (“Red”)

• N = Number (“9 9”)

• O = Offense (“Slashing”)

• T = Time (“1 Minute”)

• S = Situation (“Blue ball, free clear”)

Settled play

Covers complete end line, his side line, crease and goal

On ball referee when ball is at his side of the goal

Should make the count (1001 – 1004) when goalie has the ball in his crease

Yells SHOT when there is a shot

Covers his side line

On ball referee when ball is at his side of the goal

Helps out

Watching the shooter and defense after a shot

Face off

Says (does not yell):“Down”. Players have to get down in the right stance“Set”. Players can no longer move their stick and hands(Whistle)

Face off – break left

Lead needs to stay in front of the ball Possesion!

Trail follows the play

CBO stands at the right side of the subbox so he can see the box and the field of play

Face off – break right

CBO stands at the left side of the subbox so he can see the box and the field of play

Transition

Lead will become the new TrailHe will run by the box, to check if everything is in order

Trail will become the new lead.Needs to stay in front of the ball

CBO will switch to the other side of the boxWhen at midline, he checks for off side and checks in with the new trail

Goal – rotation

When ball goes in the goalLead will blow his whistleQuickly confirm with singlePut his arms up

Run to the creaseSignal the goal scorer to the trailPick up the ballGive the ball to the singleGo to single side FO position

Trail will wait for the lead to signalRelay the signal to the CBOGet to FO position
