Lafarge umiam mining Ltd. is situated in Meghalaya, India; close to the river umiam. In the production process, first of all, Drilling is done to create borehole into the limestone. These holes are then filled with explosives. Explosives are placed into the grounds of the blasting area. During the blasting period, all employees need to stay inside the blasting shelter. Then the blasting takes place and through this process, the limestone is fragmented into pieces. Now the bigger rocks are defragmented into smaller pieces by using rock breakers. The rocks are then transported to the crushing site. In the crushing site, the limestone are defragmented into even smaller pieces and then transported to Bangladesh by the long belt conveyer. The long belt conveyer, the largest of its kind, is 17 KM long which and it will directly transport the limestone from India to Bangladesh in about 20 minutes. This belt conveyer acts as a link between the people of two different borders: India and Bangladesh. These limestones is then stored in the raw material shades in Chatak, Sylhet along with other raw materials like iron ore, shale etc. These raw materials are then crushed and mixed in the desired proportion to make the exact chemical composition. Then the raw materials go through an enormous homogenization process and grind into fine particles called “Rawmix”. Then the raw mix grinded and transformed into a dry rock product called “Rawmill”. Then the “Rawmill” is loaded into a heated and heated at 800 degree centigrade for decarbonation. Then the “Rawmill” is transformed into a dry product called “Clinker”. There is a 58 meter long “Klin” which acts as the heart of the cement making process. Inside the Klin, there is a flame of 1870 degree Celsius. In the Klin, a lot of chemical reactions are performed and the materials are converted into calcium silicate. At the end of the process, a red hot particles called “Clinker” is created. This clinker is then cooled instantly using frost air and transformed into small dark particles called nodules. The quality of the cement

Then the raw materials go through an enormous homogenization process and grind into fine particles called Rawmix. Then the raw mix grinded and transformed into a dry rock product called Rawmill. Then the Rawmill is loaded into a heated and heated at 800 degree centigrade for decarbonation. Then the Rawmill is transformed into a dry product called Clinker. There is a 58 meter long Klin which acts as the heart of the cement making process. Inside the Klin, there is a flame of 1870 degree Celsius. In the Klin, a lot of chemical reactions are performed and the materials are converted into calcium silicate. At the end of the process, a red hot particles called Clinker is created. This clinker is then cooled instantly using frost air and transformed into small dark particles called nodules. The quality of the cement depends mostly on these nodules. Then these clinkers are stored in the clinker silo which can contain 1000 tons of clinker. Then these clinkers are grinded in a tube like cement mill and crushed into superfine powder. The whole process is controlled and monitored from a central control room. Temperature, pressure, purity and other factors related to the process are closely monitored from this control room. This is done through a quality information management process. All the equipments of the plant are connected through the quality information management process to enable the monitoring process. Then there is a quality mix control system, This system is integrated by the technicians from France and Malaysia to measure the production performance. This process ensures a top quality cement in every bag. The produced cement is stored in the cement silo and transported to the packing plant for packaging. Then the cement packages are sent to the dispatch unit. From there, the cement packages are shipped all over the country through bus, tracks and other vehicles.
