So you are going to be a freshman this fall? That can be both exciting and kind of scary. Don’t start school this fall without being fully prepared- that is where Fresh Start comes in! This camp will ROCK YOUR SOCKS OFF!

OnceOnce you hit the river, you and your tent mates will work together to navigate the rushing waters. Before you know it you’ll be laughing, telling stories and ambushing the other rafts around you.

YYour speaker will turn adventures from the river into lessons for life. It really isn’t about the river, the raft or cooking your meals outdoors. We have never been more excited about Junior High Camp at Lake Ann! Last year, we doubled the fun by adding the Screamin’ Eagle Zip-line and Zorbs. This year, we are rebuilding the Flying Squirrel to make it better than ever before.

What makes Junior High camp one of Lake Ann’s fastest growing programs? Could it be our amazing speaker, EJ Swanson? He travels all over the country speaking throughout the year, but every summer he is here to make the Bible easy to understand and relevant to campers’ lives. See for yourself why everyone’s talking about EJ and his Walk-thru the Bible series.

CouldCould it be all the new friends you’ll make? You’ll have a blast on The Zorbs, The Flying Squirrel, paddle boats, The 6-person Revolution water toy, The Blob, a crazy ice cream parlor and the challenge course. Don’t forget, eighth graders get to do the Zip-line… just picture yourself flying over the water like a Screamin’ Eagle. It’s so cool!

While Senior High is Lake Ann’s flagship, Reborne Rangers is the pinnacle experience Lake Ann has to offer. Reborne is an invitation-only camp that takes young leaders and puts them through the paces to prepare them to be impact players in life. The Reborne team is a tight-knit group, who studiesstudies together, fights together on the paintball field, and challenges each other to new levels of achievement as they break out of their shell to witness on the streets of Traverse City, Michigan.

Reborne Rangers is not for everyone, but for those willing to take on this challenge, it becomes a defining moment in their lives. Young leaders rub shoulders with others like themselves and then sit under the teaching of extraordinary adults who have made their mark in this world.

LookLook up Reborne Rangers on Facebook. You will see groups from years ago that still challenge each other to have an extraordinary faith in God.

TheThere are only two ways to get into this camp. First, your senior high team from a previous or current summer can nominate you for the program. Secondly, your pastor/youth pastor or youth leader can submit your name. Once you are nominated, we will send you an application packet. If youryour application is accepted, you’ll receive an invitation letter and be cleared to register for the week of your choice. Only those who are truly serious about life change and impacting the world around them should consider attending!

The average age of our counseling staff is 21. We know that every camper is a parent’s most valuable possession and it takes a level of maturity to lead those campers through a variety of positive camp experiences. Knowing the challenges a counselor faces causes us to be very careful to bring on a mature staff.

TheThe extensive nature of our interview process communicates to potential staff members that they are preparing for a summer of putting others in a higher position than themselves. We require an in-person interview, detailed application, 5 authoritative references, and a background and driving record check before they are offered a contract for the summer.

ThisThis year’s team will arrive 14 days before the campers. They will receive 175 hours of classroom and hands-on training to learn behavior management, facilitation, Lake Ann’s core values and mission, high adventure, philosophy of ministry, outdoor education, and much more. They finish training having experienced every activity the campers will enjoy and are pumped up for their first campers to arrive.

TTraining does not stop in the spring. Lake Ann Camp’s staff literally has a staff meeting every day of the summer. These meetings allow full-time staff to assist counselors in dealing with specific needs of individual campers. Each meeting raises the bar to ensure that everyone on staff is on the same page mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

Our Staff

Core ValuesChrist First in Love and Life: We believe that if our staff does not have an intimate walk with God, neither will our campers. His Word is a guaranteed impact!

We’re all About Trust: The potential for biblical life-change is directly impacted by the trusting environment that is created and the trustworthy individuals who make it happen.

Life Application Discovered: In order to reinforce the ministry of our local churches and families, Lake Ann Camp will help campers take what they already know and learn the process of putting it into practice in their lives.

ProgramProgram Intentionally: Intentional programming is the art of giving campers more than they came to get every minute, every day.

Ask the Question that Begs Asking: Deep, unanswered questions often lay dormant in the human heart until someone cares enough to mine them out. Lake Ann Camp will be a safe haven where campers will not be afraid to allow God to minister to them through others.

ChallengeChallenge by Choice: Essential to God’s call in an individual’s life is the opportunity that He gives to accept or reject that call. Essential to all of Lake Ann’s ministry will be the camper’s right to accept or reject our offerings.

You Cannot Teach an Unhappy Camper: Fun is not only a key expectation of our campers, it is also fully compatible with everything good and wholesome about our Heavenly Father, the author of “every good and perfect gift.” We laugh a lot!

IfIf it Ain’t Broke, Break It!: In Lake Ann’s quest to make an eternal difference, don’t be surprised if you see established programs sidelined in deference to relevant new opportunities. Embracing constructive change is essential to creating an environment where life-change happens.

Camp is Not an Island: Lake Ann seeks to strengthen the bond that exists between a camper, his parents, and the local church, becoming the third strand in a cord that is not easily broken.

UniqueUnique Learning Experiences: While most of Lake Ann’s activities have winners and losers, the activities themselves will be experiential in nature. This shows respect for the essential differences and values of both the artists and the athletes who participate together.
