Principals Report
Wonderful work
Thanks to the wonderful students from 4BR who came to show me the
beautiful handwriting they had completed in their books. Many of the
students are working hard to obtain their pen licences and I can see why
many have achieved their licence. Well done!
Rex from K-6R has been working very hard on his
talking skills and came to show me his award.

5C are working on the secret
surprises for all the mums. It
was lovely to visit the class and
see how much effort they were
putting in to make their mums a
heartfelt gift for Mothers’ Day on
Sunday. You will all have to wait to

National Anthem
I understand there is some concern around changing when we sing the National Anthem. While I agree it
is very important to teach our students about national pride and to know the National Anthem, I also
value the learning time in the classrooms. Teachers and students are moving more quickly to classes and
getting their learning underway more efficiently in the mornings, and making the most of the prime
learning time each day.
The National Anthem will continue to be sung, in full, at each Monday morning assembly and will be
added to the agenda for the weekly assemblies.
PBL News
This week’s PBL lesson has been about “keeping hands and feet to ourselves”. Students have discussed
how to solve problems that come up in acceptable ways that keeps everyone safe.
Drumbeat
The Drumbeat program kicked off this week with a small group of Stage 3 students. I was amazed at how
quickly the students picked up the rhythms and musical patterns presented to them. Drumbeat is
designed to help children further develop problem-solving skills, build social confidence, explore creativity
and boost self-esteem. I look forward to catching the group each
week to see how they are progressing in their learning.
We have had some major events this week with the LMPS Cross Country and our annual Mothers’ Day
Breakfast. Thank you to all the parents who came along. A thank you also to the staff who work hard
behind the scenes to ensure these events are well-organised and successful each year.

100th anniversary of the ANZAC celebrations, Kindergarten
students received a medal this week.
In 2015 all LMPS students received these and it was a fitting
gesture for our youngest to be given the final medals of the
collection. We hope it is a treasured moment.
