Lakes on EldridgeCan You HEAR the New

Quiet?G&H Diversified Manufacturing abuts the northeast corner

of LOE on Tanner Road where they manufacture specialized tools that are critical for making oil and gas wells produce hydrocarbons. This is a very competitive business and as a result they have been operating around the clock, seven days a week, for several years. Such continuous operation has created around the clock noise related to forklifts and movements of steel pipes. G&H has been long aware of this problem and has been working on solving it for two and a half years resulting in a new, concrete- walled building situated on the eastern side of their property away from LOE. While it may not eliminate all the noise, it should significantly reduce the previous levels.

Going forward, material deliveries are planned to be limited to the 12 hours between 6am and 6pm and will be unloaded and stored inside the concretewalled building and then moved progressively through their building toward the east end of the building where pallets of finished products are loaded on to outbound trucks. With daytime deliveries, the doors to the concrete walled building are expected to be closed overnight to better isolate any processing noise.

The metal building that has been in use for the past several years will be converted to overflow work and is projected to be limited to day shift use only. The concrete parking lot will now be used for employee parking rather than for outside pipe storage as it has been used for several years.

While the noise has certainly been annoying, the laws and regulations are broad enough that G&H has been within its allowable noise limits. G&H is a family owned and run business with several family members residing in LOE. They have committed to being a good neighbor and have gone to significant extra cost and effort to reduce their noise and support a quieter environment for LOE.

Lakes on EldridgeLet’s Keep LOE Safe!

There continues to be many instances of speeding and running stop signs in LOE. The danger to our fellow residents is not worth the few seconds you will save by speeding or running a stop sign. Our Securitas patrol has been instructed to issue infraction notices for violators and these infractions carry fines. Be assured the goal is not to create revenue but simply to serve as a reminder to change behavior in order to improve safety in our neighborhood. Please do your part.

We also continue to see repeat instances of contractors tailgating at the back gates. It is the responsibility of each resident to notify their contractors (and any of their visitors) that the main gate on Eldridge Parkway is their sole entrance into LOE. We are working on updating the protocol for admitting visitors to LOE with the goal of keeping the community safe. This update will be seamless for all residents and will be detailed in forthcoming communications.

She is very excited to be able to share this wonder of yoga with those who want to feel better and explore how it could benefit them! Welcome all levels, no yoga experience needed, just “come as you are” and let’s practice!

3rd ANNUAL CHILI COOK OFF (FEBRUARY 29th, 2020)Our third annual Chili Cook Off was a huge success! Thank you

to everyone who participated! There was a great variety of thirteen delicious recipes and each one was different and outstanding! We savored beef, chicken, turkey, vegetarian and beanless varieties.

The award for the best chili in Lakes on Eldridge for 2020 goes to the chili with a Mediterranean touch! Watch out for this beautiful young lady, because it was her first go at a chili. This is very promising for the future! Congratulations to all our winners!

Special surprise for the night was a visit from four firefighters! They enjoyed our chilis and invited everyone to take a look at their cool fire truck!

A special thank you to all our volunteers for cooking and/or helping prepare for this event!

We are always looking for volunteers, so if you want to be part of this fun group - the LOE Social Committee - we'd like to invite you to our next meeting! Don't hesitate to contact us at [email protected] or [email protected]!

Befriend us on Facebook for more information! @LOE Social Committee

By: Concentra Urgent CareThe Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) say

that nearly 90,000 patients die in U.S. hospitals each year due to a preventable disease – many could be avoided if everyone properly washed their hands.

From germs on office equipment to sick colleagues who decided to come into work anyway, people face the same dangers in the workplace. The same simple fact holds true: Washing your hands regularly is an effective way to prevent yourself from catching or spreading a preventable disease or illness.

WHEN TO WASH YOUR HANDSThe CDC recommends washing your hands every time you:• Prepare or eat food• Use the restroom• Tend to someone who is sick; both before and after• Blow your nose, cough, or sneeze• Handle garbage• Treat a cut or wound• Change a diaper or clean up after children• Handle an animal or animal waste

HAND WASHING BASICS The CDC has issued specific guidelines about effective hand washing:

Wash Your HandsReducing Spread of Disease While at Home and Work

• Wet hands with water• Use plain bar or liquid soap• Create a lather by vigorously rubbing hands together for 15-20

seconds—about the amount of time it takes to sing “Happy Birthday” twice

• Be sure to wash palms, back of hands, fingers, and nails (clean nails by gently scratching nails down your opposing soapy palm)

• Rinse off soap under a stream of waterWHAT ELSE CAN YOU DO?

• Focus on hand washing in the lunch and/or break room• Be careful when using sponges and dish towels. These are ideal sites

for bacterial growth. Always wash your hands after using these items.• Maintain a clean work area; regularly clean any office equipment,

especially shared items such as phones and keyboards.• Remind your colleagues of the importance of hand washing,

particularly when you witness someone neglecting to wash his or her hands.FOR MORE INFORMATION

To learn more about how washing hands regularly can help prevent disease, ask your health care provider, or visit the CDC’s creative Web site dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of hand washing at www.henrythehand.com.
