    Chapter News

Ann Thompson and husband Randyattended a destination wedding in PuertoVallarta during the first week inJanuary. They stayed at a fabulous resortthat was all inclusive and had breathtakinggrounds! The wedding itself was on theisland (Los Caletas) that was formerlyowned by movie director John Huston whohad no electricity! Everything wascandlelight or Tiki torches. This led to a"little problem!" The two-year-old flower girlsat down on a rocky step and her large skirtdraped over a votive candle and caughtfire! The bride's very brave cousin startedpatting at the flames and throwing sand onthe fire. The dress was removedimmediately and the little girl was just fine. However, the netting on the dress meltedonto the young man's hand andcaused second degree burns! He wastreated by the kitchen staff and by the nextmorning was in pretty good shape. Prior tothe "fire" the highlight of the wedding was aparrot that flew from a hilltop with thewedding rings in a bag in his beak to theminister. He did fine with the bride's ringbut when it was time for the groom's ring he

flew halfway and then circled the altar andflew back to the trainer. They were told hewas "night blind" and did not like to fly whenit was getting dark. The trainer retrieved thebag and threw the ring to the minister andall was well! All in all, it was quite anadventure!

Barb Hansen completed the Sugar LandUSA Fit Marathon on Sunday, January 29,benefitting the Fort Bend EducationFoundation. It was her third 26.2 mile race.

Brenda LeBlanc Gless and Janet Lavonghave started a business called TheTutoring Cottage. The facility offerstutoring to children of all grade levels in allsubjects. The Tutoring Cottage providesCertified Teachers who already tutor

students a unique learning environment. This way, teachers who tutor no longer haveto go to a students house or tutor studentsat their own home. We would love for you tocome by any time and take a tour ofTheTutoring Cottage. It is located at 3417Skinner Lane in Richmond. If you know of astudent who needs to be tutored or teachersthat live in this area, Pecan Grove,Waterside, Richmond, or even Rosenberg, and would like to become a tutor, pleasespread the word!

    Health Tip #1

It only takes a second to turn a plain jug ofwater into something much more exciting.Add a few handfuls of ice then try any oneof these simple things:

Add a few slices of fresh lemon or lime. Quarter an orange, squeeze in all of the

juice, then toss in the squeezed quarters forcolor and extra flavor. Scrunch a handful of fresh mint in yourhands to get the flavor going then add thatto the jug with a squeeze of lemon or lime

juice. If youre feeling a bit adventurous, adda few slices of cucumber or apple, too.

Keep in the refrigerator and fill your water
