    President's Message

    Dear Lambda Sigma Sisters,

Hope each of you ladies had a well deserved restful and fun- filled safe Thanksgiving aftercooking, shopping and visiting with family and friends. After attending multiple bazaars andshopping for store bargains, I believe I have completed my Christmas and December birthdayshopping. Now to the wrapping! I cant believe that Im ahead with my purchases this year.

That extra week following Thanksgiving was helpful.

After attending Mary Prines November presentation, Schools for Africa, I realized howmuch I am unaware of what life is like elsewhere. I was also blown away with all that Maryand her family contribute to improving peoples lives and giving hope to those who strugglewith little. Christi and her lions entertained us with a pre-show. An abundance of drawingsthat were held, helped to add to our treasury as did funds from the DVD donations. LambdaSigma voted to donate $50 to the Schools for Africa International Project as we met morethan our monetary goal that we had set earlier in the year. The last military book collectionended at this meeting and was this past week given to the USO. They are very grateful forthe books and stuffed animals donation we gave.

With 2012 coming to an end, I started reminiscing about all that Lambda Sigma membershave accomplished the first half of this school year. After installing new officers this year andappointing new committee chairs and members who learned about their upcomingresponsibilities with Delta Kappa Gamma, many attended the Texas State Convention, theSouthwest Conference and the Area IV Workshop in order to learn how to keep our chapterremaining strong. We ended the summer initiating four new enthusiastic members and beganthe fall season recommitting to Delta Kappa Gamma. Chapter projects and variousfundraisers kept us running and working together to accomplish our goals. We wererecognized in the local papers and on the Fort Bend Stars web page. Our Area IVcoordinator, Barbara Anders, visited at the October meeting where we enjoyed an interactivereading from an author and learned about steps to getting published. Sadly, in October, welost a dear sister, but were grateful to be able to join in the celebration of her life. Now December is upon us with all the holiday activities beckoning us to participate. We hadnineteen for the Brookwood field trip. One of the items we forgot to bring with us was a box ofKleenex to use while watching the Christmas Pageant. We watched the performance of theNight Before Christmas. Not only was this entire fieldtrip educational, it was very heartwarming. We took a tour of the facilities and we were given a card that was stamped at eachlocation. When we arrived back at the restaurant where we ate a delicious lunch, we weregiven a free ornament. Youll see pictures next month. Hopefully, each of you will be able toattend our Christmas Holiday Appetizer Party at Dawns home on December 7th.

This will be the last Presidents Letter this year. Looking back over 2012, we find it has sped

by and we are anticipating what the future year will bring us. Now is a good time to startthinking of who you would like to extend the honor of being a member of Delta Kappa Gammain the year 2013.

My wish for you as this year ends is to be able to slow time down and be able to really visitand enjoy your family and friends. Think about all you have accomplished this past year andwho have embellished your lives. May God bless all of you with a beautiful Christmas and aHappy New Year!

    November Angel Award

I never had a sister, but this specialperson has been like a sister to me for over30 years.

She was there to welcome Phil and mewhen we joined the church.

She was there for our first baby,Matthew's shower; then again for Jimmy'sbaby shower 5 years later. He's now 24years old. She was there with a DKGinvitation at the door to my temporary bldg.

She bought our Matthew a t-shirt to wear toDisney World that said "I'm a Great Guy!"He wore that shirt ragged.

She's my Miss Manners, myparliamentarian and my debate coach; shehas kept me out of jail as, I am not knownfor my tactfulness as many can attest.

When we lost our 8 yr old Matthew fromLeukemia 21 years ago, this special sisterborrowed our house key and cleaned ourhome while we buried our child in another

town. There were fresh flowers on thekitchen table when we got home.

Friends are the angels that lift us upwhen our wings have forgotten how to fly.

Thank you, Peggy Norman, for beingsuch a precious angel to me.
