Activity
• The targets that you are given by the class teacher will be drawn from the Assessing Pupil Progress Grids.
• Examine the completed grids you have in the pack
• In pairs, decide the possible targets that the teacher will give you.
Continued……..
• Now look at the examples of the completed Individual Tuition Plans.
• Notice how the targets reflect the gaps in learning on the APP grid
• Now take a few minutes to look closely at the columns ‘Planned Support’ and ‘Evaluation/Success Criteria’
• The aim, by the end of tuition, is that the some of the gaps on the grid can be filled in.
Resources
• Sample session plans will not feature in Lancashire support. This is to reflect the absolute need for tuition sessions to be flexible and to respond to immediate need.
• However, we will recommend major planning tools, which you can look at in phase/subject groups today.
Resources.
• The Progression Maps:- a resource specifically produced to enable planning that reflects APP targets. We recommend you use this for secondary English.
• The version you have on the disk is the first version that covers level 3 to 7. This is the easier version to begin with.
Resources continued…….
• For secondary mathematics, we recommend you use the Framework for Mathematics to find your teaching targets. http://nationalstrategies.standards.dcsf.gov.uk/node/110233
• You will have an example from the guidance to study.
Resources continued
• Overcoming Barriers:- a planning tool aimed at Primary maths but will be very useful if working at appropriate levels in Secondary.
• Materials work at raising achievement from level 1-2, 2-3 and 3-4.
Resources continued
• Assessment and Progression in Reading and Writing Skills and Support for Writing at Key Stage 2
