II. Old business and Link activities

With another “double-feature” cross-training program month, Brian hurried over the routine announcements that are regularly announced and encouraged everyone to refer to the Website to view and/or download the agendas and the minutes of future and previous meetings. He also asked everyone to provide meeting feedback and suggestions on the post-meeting electronic survey which will be emailed to participants within a few days following the meeting.

III. Cross-training programs

Brian re-introduced Roger Steffy, who overviewed the more than 15 programs that his agency administrates and oversees. The programs focus on housing and financial stability. Roger introduced program leaders from a few of Tabor’s programs:

Doug Hopwood, divisional manager, oversees the Transitional Living Center (TLC), and in his very brief (one-fourth of 18 minute TED Talk time window)

narrative about the programs that TLC provides, elaborated the increased population of families with children TLC is serving this year.

Ann Linkey, divisional manager for Homeless and Rental Counseling recounted and narrated brief particulars of the numerous paths and programs in her purview. Roger also introduced supportive housing services coordinator, Christine Forry.

Roger announced that “just today” significant changes become effective today, he said, Tabor has repackaged several financial awareness and information services into the Ann B. Barshinger Financial Empowerment Center and he introduced Ann Duval, the divisional manager for the Center. Ann identified the numerous programs and resources that the Center has available for citizens.

Each of Tabor’s presenters responded to questions following their compacted presentations. Roger had informational “take-away’s” for the meeting participants.

Laurie Reichart, Humana® regional operations manager, narrated and explained the complexities of Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans. During her informative, but informal, presentation she responded to participant questions. She also provided a take-away brochure for everyone.

IV. New Business

Next month’s cross-training: Thursday, November 19 – Senior Helpers. The meeting location will be at Elderwood Senior Living of Lancaster, 120 Rider Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17603.

Are you ready to be a pecha kucha presenter? Pick a topic; pick a month and email, text or call Brian to reserve a speed presentation month for a topic you want to let everyone know about. Need the template? Just ask.

Link event – Living YOUR WAY! – Cynthia Gartman, project operations section leader for this upcoming “health fair” October 28 event at the Ephrata American Legion reminded the attendees that only a few vendor tables are remaining. A brief planning meeting followed the cross-training meeting.

Information sharing – There were several shared partner program or activity announcements; the purpose of this sharing of information is to give each meeting participant opportunity to share information that may benefit our identified target populations and/or resource providers.

Adjournment – Brian called for “other new business.” None offered, the meeting was adjourned at 2:37 pm.
