Wisdom dictates that you can’t improve on perfection and many of those whose job it is to know

consider the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X to be the perfect A-to-B car; but at Mitsubishi evolution

never stands still, so with pleasure and with pride we introduce the new ultimate – the Mitsubishi

Lancer Evolution X FQ-400 by WRC Developments. With 403 bhp under its brand new bonnet it

accelerates away almost 20% faster* than its revered FQ-300 GSR stablemate. And, difficult though it

may be to comprehend, it feels even quicker than the figures suggest, with truly aggressive torque

delivery and minimal lag. Launch performance is exceptional, acceleration phenomenal – peak torque

of 387 lb.ft. is reached at just 3500 rpm whilst output continues to climb steadily to almost

7000 rpm. Furthermore, with its brand new wheels and tyres, uprated brakes, modified suspension and

honed body, even more of that power can be put down with even more confidence and an even greater

sense of traction than in any other Lancer Evolution before it. Clarkson loves the Lancer Evolution X,

both on and off the track: “monumentally, toweringly, eye-wateringly brilliant”. Like you, he may find

it hard to believe, but the most electrifying, intoxicating, utterly awe-inspiring production four-door

saloon in history just got even better.

THE FQ-400 THEORYOF EVOLUTION

Page 4: Lancer Evolution x 400
Page 5: Lancer Evolution x 400

Coaxing over 400 bhp out of the Lancer Evolution’s incredible 4B11 engine has been entrusted to

some of the best known names in motorsport. It has involved over 500 hours of development time

to re-map the ECU and the turbo has undergone a bespoke conversion, with low friction ball bearing

technology (for faster response and reduced turbo lag), an extreme temperature exhaust turbine and

uprated thrust bearing. Motorsport specification, high flow fuel injectors have been fitted, as well as

a 3" diameter high flow stainless steel exhaust system and sports catalytic converter and a new rear

diffuser to improve the airflow around its exit. Other means of improving cooling in and around the

engine bay include fitting a new intercooler and induction piping kit, in addition to obvious features

like those deep, gloriously menacing vents within the bonnet.

POWER AND THE GLORY

Page 6: Lancer Evolution x 400

All the power in the world is of little use if it can’t be put down effectively, which is where the FQ-400

excels. The suspension has been lowered – by 30mm at the front and 25mm at the rear – reducing roll

and improving the Evolution X’s already phenomenal cornering capability; front and rear track widths

were increased to suit. Increased grip levels come courtesy of Toyo Proxes R1R tyres, mounted on

18" SL Corse racing wheels, whilst stopping power is aided by Alcon 6-pot mono-block callipers acting

on 365mm ventilated front brake discs and backed up by Sports ABS with EBD. Aerodynamic adaptations

include new, lightweight bumpers and side skirts, a carbon fibre front lip spoiler, composite bonnet and

rear wing Gurney strip and carbon fibre “shark’s tooth” Vortex Generator. Move over all you supercars,

the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution FQ-400 is coming through.

THE SUPERCAR SLAYER

DRIVEN TO PERFECTIONFrom the touchscreen central command satellite navigation system

described by the famously demanding Mr Clarkson as the “best” he

has found “in any car”, right down to the carbon, model-numbered

handbrake, Adaptive Front lighting System (cornering lamps which

illuminate your direction of travel at lower speeds), PIAA lighting

upgrade with bulbs which perform in excess of 90% better than

standard ones and motorsport-derived silicone wiper blades which

are a major development in their own right, everything about the

Lancer Evolution FQ-400 is truly special.
