Weekly Broadsheet
Autumn Term
12 January 2018
www.lancingprepworthing.co.uk
Dear Parents,
I hope your children have enjoyed the first week of term! It was good to welcome them back to
school on Monday and they certainly seem to be in good spirits! We have had a relatively quiet
settling in week of learning and now the children are looking forward to the full clubs programme
starting on Monday. I am delighted to introduce our new Acro-dance club which will be run by
Claudia Ciofaca from Glendale Dance School on Monday evenings for children in Years 2 to 6.
Claudia was a national Romanian gymnast and she is a very inspirational person. I am sure that the
children will love working with her. Please note that there is a charge for this club as it is run by an
outside teacher.
Our young chess players had an excellent holiday and represented the school brilliantly at the
Worthing Chess Club Tournament on 21st December. We won the tournament which was very
exciting. Warm congratulations to Regan C and Oliver E in Year 2, Zen R and Zach P in Year 3,
Joshua H in Year 4 and Danny B in Year 5. Zen R won the Year 1 to 3 group with Zach P the runner
up. Very well done boys!
The netball and hockey seasons have got off to a good start this term and I sense that our sport will
continue to go from strength to strength in 2018!
Next week, I will be out of school on Monday, training for compliance inspections and then on
Tuesday and Wednesday I will be at the annual Woodard Conference at Leamington Spa. (There
will be no Senior Drama Club on Tuesday). If you have any serious concerns please contact
Stephanie Salter in my absence.
I hope you all have a very good weekend.
Best wishes,

CLUB INFORMATION
Culture Club
We are delighted to be able to offer two tickets to see a matinee performance of New Mutiny
Theatre Company’s production of Robin Hood at the Old Market Theatre, Hove on 17th February
at 2.30pm. If your child would like to apply for these tickets please write to Mrs Casey and the tick-
ets will be drawn on 22nd January.
New Mutiny www.newmutiny.co.uk has played to packed audiences at the Bristol Old Vic, Bath
Theatre Royal, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the Old Market Theatre Brighton. Their first pro-
duction, an hour long adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, received 5 star reviews from the Times, The
List and Broadway Baby and closed the annual Children’s Shakespeare Festival in 2016; our pupils
were fortunate to be able to watch it performed at Lancing College. This new production is a retell-
ing of the classic folk tale Robin Hood. While staying faithful to the traditional ballads the show will
be infused with the energy, music and magic their audiences have come to expect. If you are not
successful in your bid for the Culture Club tickets other tickets are available at: http://
theoldmarket.com/shows/robin-hood/

invoiced direct from Glendale.
We had a small residue of funds from this trip, which will be refunded to participants via the
Summer 18 school fees invoices; it will appear as a credit line on these.
