In 2007, we announced a $1.38 billion jointinvestment into new technologies toimprove the environmental performanceof our vehicles. In 2008, we revealed

our new concept vehicle, the LRX aLand Rover in body and spirit, butconceived as a 2.0-liter diesel/hybrid,with potential CO2emissions of only 6.8ounces per mile (120 g/km).

Sustainable

Manufacturing

Land Rover vehicles are produced inworld-class manufacturing facilities,certified to ISO 14001 environmentalmanagement systems standards since

1998. Our manufacturing facilities atSolihull and Halewood have reducedemissions by approximately 4 percent peryear over the past five years. Since 1997,we have reduced emissions in our Solihullplant alone by 30 percent. Some of ourengines are even made in a manufacturingplant that is partially powered by windturbines.

Offsetting

In 2006, we launched a pioneering programto offset CO2emissions generated bythe production of Land Rover vehiclesat both plants. In fact, we were the

first automotive company to offset 100percent of our manufacturing assemblyCO2emissions. Partnered with specialistorganization Climate Care, our offsetprojects include a wind farm in China, andhydroelectric generators in Tajikistan.

Global Conservation And

Humanitarian Projects

Land Rover vehicles are used byconservation and humanitarianorganizations around the world, andare often the first choice for the most

difficult tasks. These organizations includethe Born Free Foundation, BiosphereExpeditions, Royal Geographical Society(with IBG), China Exploration and ResearchSociety, and Earthwatch Institute. Ourprojects are diverse, ranging from aninitiative to help with the protection ofrare wolves in Ethiopia, to a project fundedby our CO2offset program that providesefficient cooking stoves to rural Uganda.In addition, the partnership between theInternational Federation of Red Cross andRed Crescent Societies and Land Roveraims to generate over $2 million.
