Installation of MagiCAD Plugin

Installation of Lindab MagiCAD Plugin 2012.8.1

Installation requirements

To be able to use the plugin between the Lindab Software and MagiCAD you needto have in

32-bit operating system:

• MagiCAD 2011.11 and AutoCAD 2010-2012

• MagiCAD 2012.04 and AutoCAD 2010-2013

64-bit operating system:

• MagiCAD 2011.11 and AutoCAD 2010-2012

• MagiCAD 2012.04 and AutoCAD 2010-2013

The Plugin can be downloaded from:

The Plugin contains installation files for both, 32- and 64-bit MagiCAD versions.

NOTE: You need to have local administrator rights to install the Plugin onyour computer.

After the installation is completed you will see the screen below prompting you toload the menus manually for the first time from the link shown in the dialog. Themenus can be loaded using the AutoCAD MENULOAD function or through the CUIinterface.

Now you can install the Lindab software. Please note that you must have theversion numbers below or newer to use the Plugin.

Using the plugins

When you have loaded the menu file you will have 3 additional buttons available:

Plugin to DIMcomfort

Plugin to DIMsilencer

Plugin to LindQST (New webbased Comfort Selection Tool)

DIMcomfort

The DIMcomfort plugin contains 2 methods:

- Importing rooms to DIMcomfort using MagiCAD Room module- Import freely using AutoCAD POLYLINE command

If you have MagiCAD Room moduleinstalled you click first on theDIMcomfort button and then in theMagiCAD Room you want to transfer. Inthis case the room geometry as well asairflows for supply and extract air aretransferred.

If you use the MagiCAD Room transfer,the airflows for supply and extract will beread only in DIMcomfort.

Otherwise you can always draft aPolyline to transfer the room boundariesinto DIMcomfort. Press “m” to selectroom boundaries manually, close thePolyline and press Enter, then you willbe asked to enter a room height. Press

Enter again if you have stated the roomheight or use the default height.

NOTE: DIMcomfort allows onlysquare angles, other angles can becalculated, but you can get a warning

that the representation can be wrong.

After your selection DIMcomfort willopen. You can now use DIMcomfort asusual, select and insert diffusers, placethem in your room and visualize throwpattern, air velocity and sound in thecomfort zone.

When you are finished you click on the

room node in the tree view and thenselect the export button to MagiCAD.

DIMcomfort will then exit and a dialog inMagiCAD will pop up prompting you tostate a User Code and select a system.

Now the diffusers will be shown in thesame position, height and rotation as

selected in DIMcomfort.

If you don’t have the MagiCAD Roommodule you must draw the roomsboundaries manually using the AutoCADPolyine function.

Press ”Enter” or ”Return” to exit thePolyline function and state the height ofthe room.

Then continue in DIMcomfort asdescribed before. Don’t forget to enterairflows for supply and exhaust manuallyin DIMcomfort when you use this type oftransfer.

DIMsilencer

In DIMsilencer you can select Lindab silencers. DIMsilencer is an advancedsoftware to state requirements, calculate results and compare Lindab silencers witheach other are of great benefit to detect and solve sound problems in your ductdesign. Especially the possibility to use parametrical, will say non-standard sizes,for rectangular silencers and transfer them to MagiCAD are unique.

Push the DIMsilencer button inMagiCAD and select the circular orrectangular duct for which youwant to calculate and insert asilencer.

DIMsilencer will now open and youcan enter the sound values beforethe silencer and the designatedresult after the silencer.

If you ran flow summation inMagiCAD before, the airflow will betransferred as well to calculate thesound generation; otherwise youcan enter these values also

manually.

When you selected a silencer youpress the ”OK”-button. DIMsilencerwill then close and MagiCADdialog asks you to state a UserCode.

In the last step you click on theduct you want to insert your

silencer into. You can even selectlarger or smaller ducts than thesize of the selected silencer.MagiCAD will in this case insertreductions automatically.

LindQST

LindQST is a new web based selection tool for Lindabs Comfort product range

including documentation.

Push the LindQST button in MagiCAD toopen a webbrowser and start LindQSTand select a product selector.

NOTE: You must start LindQST withthe button MagiCAD to be able to usethe transfer function into MagiCAD.

Example for a diffuser selection:

Use “Product selector air”

1. Select a Product category or aroom type to find suitable products.

2. Select a product or define thesearch parameters for the diffuseryou want to select.

3. Enter the technical requirements,but at least airflow and sound.NOTE: the more parameter youdefine the quicker and moreselective the calculations willwork. 

4. LindQST calculates all diffuserswhich fulfils the requirements.Push ”Show Results” to get a list ofcalculated diffusers. In theselection you can even compare 2or more products to each other fordetailed information.

5. Select a diffuser to get a detailedreport including the ”Export toMagiCAD” button.

6. Push the button to close the webbrowser and enter a User Code inMagiCAD. Then place the diffuserinto the drawing.

Example for a supply air beam selection:

Use “Product selector water”

1. Select a Product category or aroom type to find suitable products.

Limit the product category list bydeactivating the product group.

2. Select a product or define thesearch parameters for the beamyou want to select.

3. Enter the technical requirements,but at least airflow, pressure,capacities and sound.

NOTE: the more parameter youdefine the quicker and moreselective the calculations will work. 

4. LindQST calculates all supply airbeams which fulfil therequirements. Push on ”ShowResults” to get a list of calculatedbeams. In the selection you caneven compare 2 or more productsto each other for detailedinformation.

5. Select a beam to get a detailedreport including the ”Export toMagiCAD” button.

6. Push the button to close the webbrowser.

7. Supply air beams can be used forthe air or the water design. Choosethe system you like to design. Thebeam will be transferred with thetechnical data of the chosensystem.

8. A successful data transfer will beconfirmed by a pop up window“Device export OK”

9. Close the Browser with OK

10. Accept the User Code or change it

and quit the product transferwindow with OK.

11. Place the beam in the drawing.
