Planting standardsWorks to be carried out in accordance with relevantAustralian and industry standards unless directedotherwise.
Protection of works:Contractor to ensure full protection of the worksduring the construction and establishment periods.
Erosion and sediment control:Sediment runoff from earthwork sites is to beprevented from entering the underground drainagesystem. Typical sediment trap mechanism willinclude:- stacked hay bales- entrenched hay bales- earthen embankments- filter cloth fences- shallow temporary berms
The exposed areas are to be stabilised andlandscape works carried out as soon as practicable.Diversion drains and sediment traps are to remain inplace until stabilisation works have been completed.The maximum width of soil exposed at any timeduring embankment works should be limited to 10m.

LANDSCAPING OBJECTIVES
Provide for an appropriate balance of built form andgreen space for this development.
Implement a selection of specific vegetation tocompliment the building design and respond to thelocal climate.
Where possible retain existing mature trees andincorporate them into the building and landscapedesign.
TREE PROTECTION NOTES
Work near trees (neighbouring & to be protected)
Harmful materials:Keep the area within the dripline free of constructionmaterial and debris. do not place bulk materials andharmful materials under or near trees. Do not placespoil from excavations against tree trunks. Preventwind-blown materials such as cement from harmingtrees and plants.
General:Do not remove topsoil from, or add topsoil to, thearea within the dripline of the trees.
Excavation:If excavation is required near trees to be retained,give notice and obtain instructions. Open upexcavations under tree canopies for as short a periodas possible.
Hand methods:Use hand methods to locate, expose and cleanlyremove the roots on the line of excavation. If it isnecessary to excavate within the drip line, use handmethods such that root systems are preserved intactand undamaged.
Roots:Do not cut tree roots exceeding 50 mm diameter.Where it is necessary to cut tree roots, use meanssuch that the cutting does not unduly disturb theremaining root system.
SOFTWORKSAll mass planting and turf areas to be prepared priorto planting. Preparation to include cultivation of thesubgrade to a depth of 150mm. if the subsoil is of ahigh clay content, apply gypsum at the manufacturersrecommended rate. In sandy soils, incorporateorganic materials to increase waterholding capacityand nutrients.
Soil (under turf):Install organic topsoil to all turfed areas. Soil to befree of debris and weed seeds and conform to therequired Australian standards for under turf mix.Type: under turf blendDepth: 150mm

PlantsGeneral: Provide plants with the followingcharacteristics:- Large healthy root systems with no evidence of rootcurl, restriction or damage- Vigorous, well estabilished, free from disease andpests, of good form consistent with the species orvariety.- Hardended off, not soft or forced, and suitable forplanting in the natural climatic conditions prevailing atthe site.Supply plants in weed-free containers of the requiredsize.Open rooted stock: if trees are to be supplied as openroofted stock, ensure this is appropriate to thespecies, variety, size and time of year for planting.
StakesStake sizes:- for plants 1-2.5m high: two 50x50x1800mm stakesper plantTiesProvide ties fixed securely to the stakes, one tie athalf the height of the main stem, others as necessaryto stablize plant.Tie TypesFor plants < 2.5m high: 50mm hessian webbingstapled to the stake
TurfingSupply and install A-grade turf (variety specified ondrawings) to areas shown on drawings. Finishinglevels should be flush with adjacent surfaces unlessotherwise detailed. Spread topsoil and grade surfaceto ensure a level finished surface, which drains tonominated field gullies.
Tank/Irrigation InstallationSupply and install tank to size and location specifiedas per drawings.The irrigation system shall be fully automatic andprovide even cover to all grass and planting areas.The equiptment and installation processes areintended to produce an irrigation system whichcomplies with all applicable industry, local authorityand Australian standards.
LightingAll lighting is to be carried out by a qualifiedelectrician.All recomended lighting is merely a suggestion, withthe ultimate style of lighting used at the description ofthe client.
Maintenance/Establishment PeriodMaintenance of all landscape works is to be carriedout by the contractor until completion of thelandscape works. Maintenance includes replacementof dead and/or diseased plant stock, removal ofweeds and rubbish, weed spraying and mowing.
EdgingSupply and install all edging as per drawings. Pavededging shall sit on 100mm of concrete. Timber edgingmust be constructed from hardwood and joined usinggalvanized fittings.
