ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

LPPS UNIFORM POLICY

At our most recent school council meeting, the uniform policy was tabled and ratified. Our School Uniform Review Working Party and the Education

Sub Committee spent considerable time seeking input from all levels of our school community when working on this policy. Below are some

important elements from this policy:

1. A new school polo shirt will replace the existing one. The new school polo design will be added as a replacement to the existing School polo

to the Official Uniform List. The new school polo top will be available to purchase from November 2019 (exact dates will be announced later

in the year). Please note: The new polo shirt will be phased in over a 2 year period.

2. An optional Year 3-6 Sports Polo be added to the uniform list. Students from these year levels will be able to wear this top to PE lessons and

to school sports events.

3. A generic (non-branded) Navy Skort be added to the uniform list as a summer item.

4. A distinct polo shirt for the Year 6 cohort will be added to the uniform list. The final design will be decided on by a selected school student

group and will be available to purchase for the beginning of the 2020 school year.

5. A cotton elastane version of the existing pants options will be added to the school uniform list as an additional generic non-branded item.

6. A generic navy long sleeve top will be added to the uniform policy as an option to be worn under the winter pinafore only. This item will not

be a stand-alone uniform item (as there will no longer be a long sleeve polo option).

7. The school uniform policy states that the acceptable colours for school shoes are black, grey, navy and white with a minimal amount of trim

allowed (by Term 2, 2020).

Timeline for Implementation of Langwarrin Park Primary School Uniform Policy.

Our new uniform policy be implemented and enforced from the start of Term Three 2019.

One exception from this policy will be the enforcement of school shoes. The school shoe portion of the policy be enforceable from Term Two 2020

for economic reasons and to allow parents time to transition.

We thank all those parents who gave considerable time to be a member of the uniform working party. Thanks must also go to the members of our

education committee who spent considerable time reviewing the uniform policy. Finally we thank all those parents who responded to the uniform

survey last term. This provided the working party and education committee with valuable insights regarding different aspects of our uniform policy

and supported the writing of our updated one.

A full copy of our updated Uniform Policy can be found at the end of this newsletter and a hard copy will be sent home for your reference.

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL’S REPORT continued

SCHOOL REPORTS On Monday 24th June, your child’s Semester 1 report will be published in the Sentral Parent Portal. Your child’s report documents their current achievement levels (based on Victorian Curriculum standards) for all key learning areas. A considerable amount of assessment has been completed throughout Term 1 and 2, for judgements to be made against the relevant curriculum standards. In your child’s report, the classroom teacher will comment on your child’s current achievement levels. They will also comment on the focus for their future learning in the second half of the year. Finally, your child’s teacher will provide a comment on their social and emot ional development. You will have the opportunity to discuss your child’s report at our parent-teacher interviews (refer to below). PARENT-TEACHER INTERVIEWS We will be running our Parent-Teacher interviews in the last week of Term 2 on: Wednesday 26th June from 3.30pm-7pm Thursday 27th June from 3.30pm-5pm The purpose of this interview will be to discuss any aspect of your child’s report with their teacher. This also provides an important opportunity for you to be able to identify how you can better support your child at home with their learning. Bookings for this interview will be made using the Sentral Parent Portal. Bookings will be open on Friday 7th June from 3.30pm. They will remain open until 11pm on Monday 24th June. Please let Richard Barren know via the school office (9775 7533) if you require assistance setting up or accessing the Sentral Parent Portal. CURRICULUM DAY On Tuesday 11th June, we have a whole school Curriculum Day (pupil free day). On this day our teachers will be undertaking focused Literacy and Numeracy professional learning sessions and team curriculum planning. SKOOLBAG APP Beginning Term 3 Skoolbag app will no longer be used. The communication tools available to notify of a student absence are via the Sentral Parent Portal or by contacting our Front Office and sending in a written note. The fortnightly newsletter is uploaded to our website every Friday on the alternate day to Assembly. You can subscribe to this by clicking on the link on our home page. Class DOJO is a valuable communication tool for daily announcements and links to school information. Richard Barren

WELLBEING Langwarrin Park is a child safe school

THRIVE—POSITIVE EDUCATION TRY your best Be HEALTHY RELATE well Get INVOLVED Live your VALUES ENJOY positive emotions Our THRIVE value for this term is RELATE WELL. There were many great examples of people relating well to others. Last Assembly we congratulated the following students: Lennon Coates F13, Ruby Tassone 1/28, Lilly-Mae Derks 2/31, Emma McCracken 3/25, Alex Healy 4/26, Mario Nasrallah 5/14, and Riley Treloar 6/5. Recognition was also given to students who are constantly cleaning up our environment. Mackenzie Insall Prep 3, Harper Blythe 1/28, Layla Forster 2/15, Cali McCartney 2/30, Matilda McLean 2/31, Ali Charles 3/22, Kyla Campbell 3/25, Jordyn Smith 4/27, Sunday Patching 4/20, Summer Singleton 2/31, James Young 5/11 and Marcus Edwards 5/14. Many classes are working on reducing the amount of rubbish which goes out to the yard, but we still get a significant amount out there. BREAKFAST CLUB

We operate from 8.15am to 8.45am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Thank you to COLES for their donations. We are in the process of changing the furniture in the Breakfast Club room to make it more inviting. Thanks to the Integration Aides for donating

their time to run this valuable program and also to Bec Waters (Karter Prep 1). We would love some more helpers.

A large donation of apples just arrived and has been shared amongst the classrooms. As part of the ‘Fresh Fruit’ program we are also receiving a fortnightly distribution of fresh fruit which is readily devoured. NATIONAL BUDDY DAY is coming up. Thank you to the Year 4 students that presented about friendship at our last Assembly. See their photo on the front cover of our newsletter. Classes are working on how to be a good friend. There is lots of talk around the school about ‘bucket filling’, (doing and saying nice things to people).
