Headlines:

Yennsy Diaz was named the Midwest League’s April Player of the Month after making five starts and allowing only one earned run in 28 2/3 innings, posting an ERA of 0.31, a WHIP of 0.58 and a batting average against of .063 (six hits allowed in 95 at-bats). Diaz finished the month with 15 consecutive scoreless innings.

Kevin Smith has been named the Midwest League’s Player of the Week twice, first for the week of April 23-29, batting .433 and driving in 13 runs in the eight-game stretch, and second for the week of May 7-13, batting .500 (12-for-24) with five doubles and one triple in five games. Smith leads the MWL with 60 hits, 21 doubles, 31 extra-base hits, 108 total bases, 41 runs batted in and a .667 slugging percentage, while ranking second with a .370 batting average. Smith has reached base in 40 of 41 games this season and has hit safely in 29 of his last 31 games.
