LANZAROTEA Magical Island with

Something for everyone

Page 2: Lanzarote

LANZAROTEThe oldest of the Canary Islands, it formed some 30 million years ago after a Volcano emerged from the

Atlantic Ocean & Erupted creating a mass of land.

Now Lanzarote after several more eruptions is 60km by 21km. It is

especially famousfor the longest eruptions in the world

When 25 volcanoes erupted for a total of 6 years, between 1730 &

1736It is divided into 3 main tourist areas.

Page 3: Lanzarote

Traditionally a family resort in season, however, it has also become a firm favorite with couples in the winter months due to variety of accommodation it has to offer. It is the second largest resort on the island, home to the first 18

Hole golf course & the islandsonly Water Park.

It boasts a selection of beaches including quiet coves, large sandy beaches and beaches with water sports in abundance

There are three main areas to Costa Teguise:- PLAYA BASTIAN-This is a quiet area with supermarkets, banks,

restaurants, bars and a long sandy beach.

LAS CUCHARAS–which is where you will find your water sports, it also has restaurants, supermarkets, banks and bars. You will also find a pharmacy in this area if you should need one.

TEGUISE PLAYA– This is the main area of the resort where most of the amenities are found, including banks, supermarkets, restaurants, bars and a pharmacy.

This is also where the weekly market is held on a Friday between 6pm and 10pm in the Pueblo Marinero.

COSTA TEGUISE

Page 4: Lanzarote

PUERTO DEL CARMEN

The first tourist resort on the island and to this day remains the largest and liveliest of all the resorts, it is divided into 4 areas.

THE OLD TOWN - This encompasses the old port area, a lovely place to while away the hours in one of the many traditional bars and restaurants.

It is also home to the islands only Catholic Church which has mass in English, the tourist information should be able to give the times of masses.

There are all the amenities that you would expect bars, restaurants, supermarkets and a pharmacy along with many souvenir shops. There is

one beach known as Playa Chica, here you will find sun-beds and a variety of water sports including Scuba Diving. It is also home to the BIOSFERA shopping centre with its many designer shops, bars and amusements , however it is very hilly so not so suitable for older or disabled clients.

If you are thinking of venturing out of resort on an excursion follow the link below to see our unique and innovative excursions, in which service is paramount. PUERTO DEL

The Old Town

Page 5: Lanzarote

PUERTO DEL CARMENThe New TownTHE NEW TOWN - This is the liveliest resort with the STRIP which houses

over 3km of bars, restaurants and night-clubs. You can party until dawn or eat your

way around the world, the choice is all yours. In this area you will also find the island´s one and only Casino which is open from 10.00 until 04.00. Whilst walking along the strip you will probably be approached by someone giving out leaflets, there are very few time shares on the island so they are more

likely to be useful information on bars restaurants or special offers on excursions. If you do get approached take a leaflet as they are only doing a

job and you never know it may save you some money. There are also a lot of electronic shops which as in the other resorts do not sell goods with EU

guarantees if you do want anything electrical the only shop recommended by ourselves and the tour operators is VISANTA which is situated about half way along the strip. There is also the Playa Grande Beach which is approximately

3 km long with sun-beds and pedloes.

Page 6: Lanzarote

PUERTO DEL CARMENPlaya Poscillos

PLAYA POSCILLOS - Roughly translated means puddle beach as when the tide comes in it leaves 100´s of puddles on the beach. This is the quietest

area with only a few amenities so although beautiful for a day lounging on the beach it may be

worth hopping on a bus or in a taxi to either the old town or new town for a wider choice of bars and restaurants. Or if you like a stroll then there is a walkway which leads past the airport to Playa Honda, where you will find

plenty of more traditional bars and restaurants at very competitive prices.

Page 7: Lanzarote

PUERTO DEL CARMENMatagorda

This area although linked to Puerto Del Carmen is a resort in its own right. This is something that needs to be explained to

clients as I have experienced many an irate and unhappy client who has thought they were going to Puerto Del Carmen

and been in Matagorda instead. As it is a good 5km away from the main part of Puerto Del Carmen and even further

from the Old Town It has all the local amenities except for a bank and pharmacy,

it has plenty of bars and restaurants, it also links to the walkway which leads past the airport to Playa Honda and for the brave all the way to Arrecife. You can hire bikes by the

hour or the day if you want to venture out. Along this walkway you will also find a number of quieter beaches.

Page 8: Lanzarote

PLAYA BLANCASituated on the southernmost tip of the island, and has, over the years established itself as one of the main tourist resorts. Originally, a small

fishing village, Playa Blanca boasts many shops and restaurants, offering cuisine from all around the world, together with a promenade which

stretches over 7km

A local bus service is now operating and runs the whole length of Playa Blanca, every 30 minutes for a small fee. Alternatively, car and bike hire

are available for those who want to venture a bit further afield.  Faro Pechiguera - Is the lighthouse end of Playa

Blanca. It consists of a vast number of private residential

and holiday villas.

Montana Roja - The red mountain, is situated behind the main holiday resort, with footpaths to the peak where the views of the resort and

neighbouring Island of Fuerteventura are stunning.

Page 9: Lanzarote

Marina Rubicon situated just outside the main resort was created approximately 7 years ago, and is home to many luxury yachts and a

sea front development with a number of designer boutiques and various restaurants, perfect for those who just want to sit and watch the world go by. It is also home to a twice a week market, ideal for

those looking for souvenirs of their visit to the island

PLAYA BLANCA

Playa Blanca Harbour - This is where you can board one of two car ferries on offer and visit our sister island of Fuerteventura.

The Fred Olsen, which crosses in just 14 mins is the quickest option, or alternatively for a more

relaxed crossing you could opt for the Armas which takes 28 mins. The crossings are every 30 mins

Page 10: Lanzarote

PLAYA BLANCABeachesPlaya Blanca is also home to a number of beaches:-

Playa Dorada, which is situated in the centre of town offers many options for lunch, snacks etc and is home to the main water sports facilities

Playa Flamingo, has been recently restored to it´s former glory after being destroyed by storms in

November 2005. The sea wall has been rebuilt to offer safe shallow waters for families to enjoy. There are a

number of restaurants and supermarkets situated next to the beach offering everything you will need for a fun

filled day.Papagayo Beaches, offer´s pure Saharan sand and beautiful crisp blue waters. There are 6 individual beaches on offer but some

are naturist. They really are a sun worshippers paradise but be

aware that, in order to keep them this way, there are no shops or cafes.

So you will need to take plenty of sun cream, snacks and refreshments with you.

Page 11: Lanzarote

FOOD Like any other tourist resort you will always be able to buy English food

& Lanzarote does not differ in this area. You will always find FULL ENGLISH BREAKFASTS, FISH & CHIPS to name but a few. However,

in Lanzarote you can still go into a traditional little bar and order traditional Canarian Cuisine.

Tapas is a great favourite of the Canarian people & this if you are not already familiar is a small dish of one or more of the local specialities.

Gambas Ajillo - Prawns Cooked in Olive Oil and GarlicPapas Arrugadas - Small potatoes boiled in sea salt & served with

Mojo SaucesTortilla - Potato Omelette , sometimes contains onion and on rare

occasion SpinachCalamari - Deep fried rings of Squid

Page 14: Lanzarote

CESAR MANRIQUÉCesar Manriqué is the reason why Lanzarote is so different to the rest of the Canary Islands. He is somewhat of an Icon to the island due to his unrelenting work to ensure that Lanzarote held on to its traditions, and

natural beauty. Whilst at the same ensuring that it had facilities and places of interest to take it´s place on the tourist map.

As an artist, and architect he transformed otherwise boring ruins into places of outstanding beauty and interest.

Below is a list of just a few of the tourist attractions on this beautiful island.

The Cactus Gardens – fashioned from an old quarry with over 10,000 different species of Cactus.

The Cesar Manriqué Foundation – his former home donated to tourism and opened following his death in 1992

Mirador Del Rio - A former Military watchtower transformed into a beautiful attraction with views over to the neighbouring island of La

Graciosa.Timanfaya National Park – this is the most famous tourist attraction on

Lanzarote with its El Diablo Restaurant designed by Cesar.Jameous Del Agua – The longest lava tube in the world, but again with his eye for the extraordinary it has been transformed into a remarkable

visitors centre and home to the King´s swimming pool.THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE OF SOME OF THE IDEAS AND WORK

OF THIS REMARKABLE MAN.

Page 15: Lanzarote

SEA EXCURSIONSYELLOW SUBMARINE

Lanzarote is one of only 15 places in the world to have a submarine which travels 30 metres to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean passing shipwrecks & marine life from Barracuda to Angel Sharks. Once at the bottom a diver will swim around the vessel encouraging a multitude of marine life to appear for feeding. For most clients this is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

CATLANZA A beautiful modern Catamaran for a comfortable sail will take you to Papageyo Beaches, where you will be served lunch cooked fresh in the galley. Whilst the catamaran is anchored you can enjoy your complementary ride on a jet ski or use the snorkelling equipment and go for a swim in the beautiful clear blue ocean.

Golf CoursesWith its over 3.500 palms, Costa Teguise Golf is an oasis surrounded by the breathtaking

volcanic landscape of the island of Lanzarote. A golf course designed in 1978 by the famous architect John Harris, where playing golf provides an incredible experience while being in a

beautiful environment at the side of an old volcano.

The course is designed to be both smooth and varied. Its numerous doglegs stimulate players and require them to bring all their clubs into play. It even represents a challenge for

professional players, whilst offering an attractive and enjoyable game for those of more modest skills. The “picon” (volcanic sand) and the wind add an extra ingredient to the pleasure of

playing each hole.  Near the club, no further than 50 meters away, you will find a Drive Range, putting green,

pitch and putt and a par 3 hole to practise.

A unique design in an area where there are no buildings to find along the way. Open all year around;
