Camera Work

• This documentary uses many camera angles, the interviews are filmed either to the left or right of the screen, each shot uses either close ups or medium close ups to show effect and emotion of interviewee. Other camera shots that are used are tilted framing handheld shots, tracking shots, zoom, pan and point of view shots.

Sound

• The main sound in the documentary is a voice over, a main code and convention of a documentary. The voice over is a young male around the same age as the people who will be playing the game, this gives the audience a better understanding of the game and he uses standard English. They have played upbeat music throughout most of the documentary to add an action effect.

Editing

• Throughout this documentary green screen is used a lot to almost put interviewee’s inside the gaming experience, as they explain things about the game, those things are happening in the background, this adds a massive effect and also creates interest for the audience. Another form of editing used is when the editor of the game is put into a rotation computer screen, and it gradually zooms in onto his face.

Mise en scene

• The mise en scene in this documentary is very notable especially in the interviews. The interviewee is inside the ‘Tomb Raider’ game when talking which will appeal to the audience because its not boring, keeping it visually interesting.

Narrative structure

• The narrative structure of this documentary is non-linear as it does not follow a timeline. It has only one storyline.

Themes

• The themes of this documentary are representation of women in the media and in video games, for example ‘Lara’ is portrayed with large breasts, thin waist line and big hips. Another theme is the influences and power of the media and its impact of feminism.
