DiningOnce known for its all-you-can-eat buffets and bargain shrimp cocktails, Las Vegas has transformed itself into a top culinary destination. Within a decade, Las Vegas has redefined the culinary and wine experience by offering the most comprehensive collection of celebrity chefs and world-class restaurants, more master sommeliers than any other city in the world and more wine sold per capita than in any other destination. Southern Nevada is home to more than 5,000 general restaurants and 375 buffets. These numbers are just a small part of the overall food and beverage culture in the region and do not account for the thousands of snack bars, takeout venues and drinking establishments that also populate the area.
GolfWith more than 45 golf courses in the area, Las Vegas is host to some of the finest golf courses in the country, including Bali Hai, Royal Links, TPC Las Vegas and Bear’s Best. Las Vegas boasts a number of courses that are truly unique, starting with the Wynn Golf Club, the only resort golf course on the Las Vegas Strip. Another standout is the Rio Secco golf club in Henderson. Rio Secco is home to the Butch Harmon School of Golf. Harmon’s former pupils include Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. You’ll also find courses in Vegas designed by Jack Nicklaus, Tom Fazio and Arnold Palmer.
ShoppingFrom designer splurges to bargain deals, Las Vegas has become a one-stop shopping mecca. Start at the Strip’s newest shopping experience, Crystals at CityCenter. The design is stark, striking and lets the glamour of the high-end retailers shine. It’s the one place in Las Vegas you’ll find only the world’s premier brands. Next, work your way downtown to Las Vegas Premium Outlets, where you can save 25 to 65 percent off brands like Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Calvin Klein, Coach and more. Or, right in the heart of the Strip, you’ll find a shopping and entertainment experience at the Fashion Show and Miracle Mile malls. Many Las Vegas resorts offer their own shopping experience as well. The Encore Esplanade consists of many boutiques,
including the distinguished Hermés and the classic CHANEL. Mandalay Place is no exception. Set between Luxor and Mandalay Bay and convenient to the tram, you’ll find Ron Jon Surf Shop, Nike Golf and an array of clothing, shoe, jewelry, home décor and accessory stores.
NightlifeThe city famous for having “something for everyone” furthers the proof to its claim when the sun goes down. After dinner, you can experience a variety of nightspots with personalities as varied as their own. From elabo-rately themed clubs to the new wave of upscale “ultra lounges” sweeping the Strip, attendees can choose from a wide array of offerings, including Marquee Nightclub and Dayclub (The Cosmopolitan), LAX (Luxor), Gold Diggers (Golden Nugget), Chateau (Paris), TAO/LAVO (The Venetian/The Palazzo), 1 OAK (The Mirage), Hyde (Bellagio), Hakkasan (MGM Grand) and Drai’s (The Cromwell).
SpasLas Vegas has assembled a collection of the finest spas, treatments, salons and big-name stylists to help soothe your other life away. Some highlights include the Arctic Ice Room at Qua Baths at Caesars Palace, where falling snow is meant to relieve stress. The Drift Spa at Palms Place introduces the Turkish hammam – a traditional gathering place for ritualized cleansing and relaxation. Another unique option is The Spa at ARIA. There you’ll find one of the only Japanese stone sauna “ganbanyoku” beds in the country. If you’re into nature, the Spa at Red Rock lets you combine the exhilaration of rafting, mountain biking, horseback riding
and conquering mountains with the supreme relaxation of 35,000 square feet of tranquil, luxurious spa space.
EntertainmentLas Vegas is called the Entertainment Capital of the World for good reason. Since its Rat Pack days, the city has been associated with legendary shows and entertainers, Cirque du Soleil spectaculars, world-renowned concert headliners, Broadway-caliber productions, award-winning magicians and unique-to- Las Vegas production shows. You’ll also find classical performances, jazz show, dance troups and cultural shows at the world-class Smith Center for the Performing Arts.
WeddingsFor the ceremony of a lifetime and a honey-moon that will be the time of your life, nobody does it better than Las Vegas. Roughly 80,000 couples are married here each year, making Las Vegas the Marriage Capital of the World! Whether you’re planning an intimate affair for a few family members and friends, or reciting your vows while bungee jumping from a hot-air balloon, you’re only limited by your imagina-tion. Choose from more than three dozen full-service wedding chapels.
MuseumsBeyond the neon, Las Vegas offers a diverse mix of fascinating cultural and civic attractions, as well as several interesting museums. You can travel back in time and learn about ancient civilizations, pet a dolphin or see representations of life-size dinosaurs on display. Children of all ages can enjoy hands-on interactive science exhibits. You can learn about everything from local plants and wildlife to some local history at The Mob Museum downtown.

Mount CharlestonLocated 42 miles from Las Vegas in the Spring Mountains, Mount Charleston is an evergreen island in the Mojave Desert. Charleston’s peak reaches 11,900 feet into the Southern Nevada sky. The lower foothills are covered with pinion pine and juniper; then comes the ponderosa pines and quaking aspen as the elevation increases. The ancient bristlecone pine can be found from 6,900 feet to the tree line. The Native Americans used this area to spend their summers, escaping the heat in the valleys below. The United States Forest Service manages the Charleston Forest Reserve, established Nov. 5, 1906. The Spring Mountain/Mount Charleston area is home to the Rocky Mountain elk, desert bighorn sheep, mule deer and a variety of other wildlife. You might even see a herd of wild Nevada mustangs on your trip up the mountain. There are numerous hiking trails in the Mount Charleston area. The Mt.
