Seven o’clock in the morning, two days beforeThanksgiving is not typically when people startpreparing for their Thanksving meal. But it surewas a great time to be at WalMart shopping for thedisadvantaged families of Las Cruces. Just as theholidays are getting underway, people are alreadygetting into the spirit of giving. The Las CrucesHomebuilders Association is definitely in the spiritthis year, as they made sure that 200disadvantaged families received the ingredientsfor their Thanksgiving dinner.
Two hundred families from the Families &Youth Center and MacArthur Elementary Schoolreceived a box containing all the essential groceryitems for a Thanksgiving dinner includingcranberries, yams, potatoes, stuffing, pumpkin pieand a large turkey to complete the meal. All thiswas courtesy of the Las Cruces Home BuildersAssociation (LCHBA) and their CommunityService Committee. Scott Krahling, theCommittee’s Chairman was extremely proud ofwhat the organization was able to accomplish,

In 2007, the Community Service Committeedonated a combined total of 120 Thanksgivingdinner boxes. Every year the committee has raisedfunds for this endeavor through raffles at theLCHBA monthly membership luncheons. Theyalso rely on donations from their generalmembership and community businesses. “I knowwe are not the only organization that donates atthis time of year. It just goes to show how manypeople are out there that need our help and makesus realize how fortunate we are. I’m glad to be apart of this,” says Joe Baca of Precision MortgageGroup who donated to and volunteered at theThanksgiving Food Drive Event. Las Cruces Home Builders Association:
