5 Add Photo: Use this to attach the order information and manual measurements by photographing the completed order form.

6 Scan Mode - Fast: Use this mode for perimeter measurements on simple pool shapes. This mode records 800 points in 3 min. 20 sec.

7 Scan Mode - Slow: Use this mode for complex pool shapes, stair and bench measurements. This mode records up to 1600 points in 7 minutes.

8 Stop: Use only if you need to interrupt the scan process before it is complete.

9 Send Data: Use this once you are finished scanning the pool. An email will open. You can include additional information in the body of the email. Send the email to complete your order.

SAFE OPERATING PROCEDURES 1. DO NOT look into the laser beam and DO NOT unnecessarily aim at other persons.

2. DO NOT open the unit. Doing so, will void the warranty and requires the unit to be returned to Tara Manufacturing for recalibration.

3. No user serviceable parts inside.

4. As this is a precision instrument, it should be transported and carried in its case and handled with care at all times.

5. DO NOT immerse the device in water or other fluids.

6. Wipe off dirt and smudges with a damp tissue or soft, clean, lint-free cotton cloth.

7. DO NOT use aggressive cleaning agents or solutions.

8. Whenever possible, store the device in a dry, shady location.

USE1. Measuring Conditions

(a) The optimal measuring condition is in the morning or evening and if the walls of the pool are in shadow.

(b) Measuring errors can occur when the target surface reflects too intensely (e.g. a mirror) or insufficiently (e.g. black fabric), or the ambient light is too bright.

2. Laser Spray (a) In a standard 32 oz. spray bottle, add 5 or 6 drops of white finger paint and then fill with water. Use this spray along the

walls of the pool at the same height as the laser.

(b) A fine mist works better than a stream. It’s best to avoid runs for the best scan.

2. Device Preparation (a) Charge Laser before use.

(b) Set up the tripod near the center of the pool. If the tripod is sitting on the slope, put two of the legs on the downside for stability.

(c) Try to locate a spot where the laser will be as perpendicular as possible to all the walls of the pool. Ex.1

(d) Attach Laser to tripod.

(e) Verify all sides of the pool wall are visible from the laser location.

(f) Using a bubble level on the top of the laser unit adjust the tripod so that the laser device is level.

(g) Laser can experience interference from reflections on the walls of the pool. It is best to use the laser when the sun is low or the sky is overcast.

3. Pool Preparation (a) Drain pool and remove liner and any material attached to pool wall.

(b) Coat the pool wall with neutral reflective surface (laser spray). Ex. 2

(c) Identify break lines and place triangle markers at these break points. Ex. 3

5. Prior to Scanning (a) Before running the laser, find your manual pool measurements. Manually measure the shallow end and deep end depths, side walls, back walls and any other features.

(b) Record all measurements on the Tara Laser 2 order form and fill out the form completely. Ex. 4 Download Tara Laser 2 order form at www.taraliners.com/forms.

(c) Take a physical measurement, of the shallow end break, using a tape measure and record this measurement on the order form.

4. Scanning the Pool (a) Turn Laser power switch on. Ex. 5

(b) Start the Tara Laser 2 App on the iPad.

(c) In the App press the Connect button. Ex. 6

(d) In the App press the Level button. The laser will rotate 90° and stop. Check to make sure the lasers are equal on each side of the pool.

(e) Repeat this to make sure that the lasers are level for the front and back of the pool.

(f) Force quit the App

(g) Then restart the App and press the Connect button again

(h) Press the Add Photo button and take a picture of your manual measurements. Ex. 7

(i) Scan either Fast or Slow. The iPad display will change from the Control Screen to begin showing the pool perimeter Ex. 8. A fast scan will be finished in 3 min. 20 sec. and record up to 800 points. A slow scan will take just under 7 minutes and record up to 1600 points.

(j) When the scan is complete then press the Send Data button. An Email will open. Add any additional information and Send the email.

(k) Power down the Laser. The iPad will send the email when it connects to the internet again.

TROUBLESHOOTINGLaser stops in the middle of a measurement: Sometimes the laser will pause for a second to calibrate. Allow it 5 - 10 seconds to complete the calibration process.

Laser stops and won’t continue for longer than 10 seconds: A strong glare from the pool walls, can interfere with the laser and cause it to freeze. Try shading the wall of the pool where the laser is measuring. If this doesn’t work wait to measure the pool when conditions are not as bright.

Laser device can not connect to App: The laser connects via Bluetooth signal to an iPad or iPhone. If the distance between the laser and the iPad or iPhone is too great it will loose signal. Try moving the iPad or iPhone closer to the laser.

Sharp spikes on the diagram display: The surface is too bright or reflective and is interfering with the laser.

For all other issues call Technical Support, 256-725-2500. Never attempt to open the case of the laser!

LASER CLASSIFICATIONThe Tara Laser 2 generates a visible laser beam that is emitted from the front of the device. The device complies with laser class 2 according to:_ IEC60825-1: 2007 Safety of laser products_ EN60825-1: 2007 Safety of laser products

Laser class 2 productsDo not look into the laser beam and do not unnecessarily aim at other persons. The eye is usually protected by preventive reactions such as the eyelid closure reflex.
