The Efficiencies of Using Laser Surgery

Efficiency of the laser surgery is usually pretty successful. Since the laser can focus on small areas, the small skin blemishes can fully heal. However, the successful procedure comes from the aftercare. It is a responsibility for the patients to take care after their surgery scars and their skin.

Laser surgery is efficient procedure, but most times, it leaves scars on patient skin. In order to make the procedure scarless, the scientists have to find new ways to reduce the damage of a laser light. For example, the dermatologists could come up with new facial or body cream that protects the skin from laser light. It is mostly used to treat eyes problem by reshaping cornea of the eyes.

Interesting FACTS!

1) Laser eye surgery should cost at the least £4,000

2) It takes approximately three minutes to treat each eye.

3) It does not matter if you move, blink, sneeze, or cough during the procedure. A well-trained surgeon, in conjunction with eye tracking technology, ensures that eye movements do not affect the result.

4) Laser cannot make you go blind.

5) NO PAIN

How Does Laser Surgery Work?

About Laser Surgery

Laser surgery uses laser rays to remove diseased tissues or to treat bleeding blood vessels. Other than treating tissues and vessels, laser surgery is also can be used in different parts of human body. Laser is a light beam that is capable to focus on small areas. Laser surgery is mainly used for:

1. To remove warts, tattoos, sunspots and moles

2. To reduce the appearance of wrinkles, acne scars and other skin problems

3. To remove hair 4. To remove cells that could turn

into cancer 5. To relieve pain (closing off the

nerve vessels) 6. Eyes problem (Glaucoma,

diabetic retinopathy, changing eye color).

There are several kinds of laser surgery procedures, in which each of them has a different use and color. The color or the light beam is going to be depending on the type of procedures that is being performed. The type of the laser such as, carbon dioxide (CO2 ) laser, the YAG laser (yttrium aluminum garnet); and the argon laser.

LASER or Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation surgery works by using the laser machine. The machines that generate laser light work by emitting only one wavelength (or color) of light, which can then have its intensity modulated by the machine. The light pulses create plasma and heat up certain tissue, which it depends on which method and laser they are using and it burns. For example, the CO2 laser is used to cut thick tissues, which also is able to prevent bleeding. The Argon laser is usually used to treat skin and retina. Then the YAG is used to cut a thin membrane and it applies for LASIK or eye surgery (near-far eyesight problem).

Benefits of Using Laser Surgery

Laser surgery works effective on performing a surgery. There are so many advantages about using this technology. Such as:

1) Less pain for patients, 2) Bloodless, 3) More sterile because it uses

less tools, 4) Able to cut precisely, 5) Can be used on microsurgery

under microscope, 6) Can perform surgery without

opening the body part, using optical fibers to transmit the laser beam.

7) It can be controlled through a computer.

Risk of Using Laser Surgery

Even though the procedure has many advantages, it also has some risks. The risks from using laser surgery are the following ones:

1) Bleeding, 2) Infection, 3) Scarring, 4) Skin color changes, 5) Improper healing, 6) Problem not going away, 7) Many non-physicians perform

the procedure.
