"Freedom" and "equal opportunity"and "brotherhood" are fine-soundingwords when thrown from the pulpit orlauded in iambic pentameter.But they take on a new meaning whenwe actually have to take action to achievethem, ex pccially if the action means a sacri-fice on our part. Such a time of sacrifice isupon th e people of Bibb County, particu-larly the students. \Vc must give up rile oldpattern of our school system eo that equaleducational opportunity for students of allraces may be attained.The school board officials carry a majorpart of the burden of integrating theschools. Parents and teachers also play animportant role in guiding and encouragingtheir students in a time of unrest. But, inthe last analysis, the students themselvesarc the only ones who can make integrationwork. And. if we believe iJ1 freedom andequality as we say we do, we will make itwork.The adjustment will not be easy. Ourschool will have a new name, new students,new teachers. We will have new schedules,new activities, and new rules. Some of uswill attend school in a new building.We must remember that,
