A Driver’s Warning From FrostWEST MIDLANDS Police are warning all midland drivers not to leave cars warming up unattended on driveways while they de-ice. This is due to four cars were stolen this morning. Cars have been stolen from across the city including roads in Winson Green, Handsworth and Aston. At 7.40am this morning a driver was warming up his car just off Hamstead road, Handsworth when a man went to steal his Volkswagen Golf GTI. The man held onto the car as the thief tried to get away and he received a punch to the head with a metal pole. The victim has been

sent to hospital for treatment and tests. West Midlands Police are con-cerned that this sudden spell of frosty mornings may lead to other drivers leaving keys in vehicles while they warm up – making them an easy target for car thieves. Steven Wright from West Midlands Police said: “As the weather gets colder, some motorists become careless and leave keys in their ig-nitions as they warm their vehicles. Others leave the engine running in their parked vehicles as they go back inside the house and wait for their vehicle to de-ice.There are people who will steal

if the opportunity presents itself and others who deliberately go in search of such opportunities - please do not give anyone the chance to steal your property. Some victims nip inside to collect their bag or a last sip of coffee and that’s all the time a car thief needs. The message is simple - never leave your car unattended while the keys are in it.

PIZZAMAN ROBBEDPOLICE in Winson Green are investigating a robbery in which a pizza delivery man was knocked unconscious. On Friday 30 October at around 8.45pm, the 23-year-old victim had just made a delivery at an address near the junction off hansted road when he was attacked by two men who stole his wallet containing cash, bank cards and various member-ship cards. It is believed that the pair then ran-off towards park.Having regained consciousness and with a broken nose, cuts to his head and severe bruising to his face, the delivery man man-aged to get back onto his car and drive back to his pizza shop.
