Latest Trends in Home Lettering DécorFrom Vintage to custom quotes,
how to tastefully decorate your space.
Incorporating big, bright letters to punch up a space, or scrolling a comforting family motto along the top of a wall
isn’t a new trend.
But it is (usually) an inexpensive and fun way to personalize a room in your home.
Naturally, the trend has more impact when used sparingly—say, a reclaimed vintage letter hung on the wall among other
artwork, or a mantra on a single wall in one room.
Unlike painting one wall a saturated color or other ways you could personalize your space that require a major commitment,
lettering can make its statement and then be easily taken down if your words no longer holds the same import.
Here are three tasteful and easy ways of incorporating the trend.
Go vintage
Thoughtfully collected letters from vintage neon signs or salvaged acrylic letters (such as those from Etsy’s RestorologyVintage), are statement wall hangings.
But they can also be functional elements, such as this salvaged lower-case “a” that props up a workbench.
If you’ve veered toward the safety of neutrals and want to break out of a rut, try adding a big, colorful letter for variety.
Use vinyl
Emblazoning your family’s inspirational credo on a living room wall, or posting a favorite nursery rhyme in the baby’s room are
popular ways of making your home your own.
And using vinyl lettering that easily peels off without damaging your walls lets you tap into the trend without committing.
Think how happy your teenage daughter will be that “Hickory Dickory Dock” isn’t a permanent fixture on her wall.
Accessorize
Letters may appeal, but the wall-lettering trend may not be for you. In that case, some home accessories can give the
same impact.
Monogrammed pillows and throws, such as classic Pottery Barn pieces, can be moved around for a little classic impact.
Or vintage monogrammed glasses, such as accessories found on One King’s Lane, keep the trend classic and classy.
