Chose Document Size for Footage Dimensions. This means the anchor point for each layer will use the center of the document. Alternately, choosing Layer Size will make the anchor point for each layer it's own center. Anchor points are the points around which something rotates, scales, etc.

Notice that you have imported the file as a Composition which will have all of your the layers in your file in the same position to one another. There is also a separate folder with these layers. Next import the background movie and your sound file.

Double-click on the Composition Icon to open it.

You can adjust the the position of elements in the Interface. Moving the visibility/solo/lock properties to the right side of the Layer Window can be convenient. Notice how each layer is by default the duration of the Composition.

This will define the in and out point of your final rendered Quicktime Movie. It is also what you will preview as you make decisions about the timing of transitions including scale, rotation, position and transparency.

Drag your sound file into the Composition and twirl down the triangles to see the Waveform. You can further adjust the volume using key-frames. Set the first key-frame where you want the dissolve to start by clicking on the stop-watch. The value = 0. This means that the sound file has not been adjusted from it's original recording level. Next, move to the end of the sound file and adjust the volume to -48khz. This will fade the sound completely.

Trim the in-point of the logo type layer's so that it cuts in at the right time (approximately). This will help you make decisions about how to animate the other layers. You can adjust this later but it helps to organize your layers in time. The shortcut to trim the IN POINT is Option Left Bracket. The shortcut to trim the OUT POINT is Option Right Bracket.

Fade the background in from black. Start by deciding where in time it is fully visible and make a keyframe. You can use the stop-watch to make your first keyframe OR type Option T .

Move your time-line cursor to the beginning of the Composition and change the Opacity to 0. By changing the value at a new place in time, After Effects will automatically make a new keyframe and interpolate (animate) between the values.

Now your background video is fading in from black. You can try longer and shorter dissolves to see which goes best with the pace of your music and your animation.

Select the left and right shape layer and make a key-frame frame for Scale at the landing position. This is generally at the position you designed for you logo. Type Option S or use the stop-watch.

You may want to adjust the starting and ending position of your shapes. First set a keyframe for the ending position by typing Option P. The Position Keyframe should line up in time with the Scale Keyframes.

Adjust the starting position next by changing you time-line marker, selecting one layer at a time, and making an adjustment. Note the rlines in the Composition Window which indicate the shift in position.

Generally keyframes in position, rotation and scale should start and stop together. Opacity starts at the same in-point, but it fades up to 100 percent before the shapes finish moving.

Default keyframe interpolation is linear. That is, it changes at a constant rate. You can ease into a keyframe value and ease out of a keyframe value in order to create smoother, more natural movement. Control click on the ending keyframes to Ease In.

You can dissolve your layers to black (transparent). In this case, I added a dissolve to the video layer. However, it is often easier to dissolve in a black solid on top of all the other layers so that all lthe layers fade out at the same time.

You will leave the settings at Best Quality, but adjust the Output Module. There are different "recipes" for compressing Quicktime Movies. You will use high quality ProRes 422 and H264 for the web.

You can output both compression settings at one time if you'd like. Add Output Module, and change the Format Options to H264.
