DECISION TREEPlease check for the fo l lowing symptoms each morning beforeyour chi ld(ren) leave for school . If any of the fo l lowing arepresent or true, your chi ld is to STAY HOME AND NOT COMETO SCHOOL and report your informat ion to Ann Jenkins,School Nurse, at ajenkins@draschools .org. If a student or staffmember has any symptoms, that indiv idual is to enter iso lat ionfor at least 10 days, be fever free for at least 24 hours andhave symptoms that are improving before going back intopubl ic . ISOLATION PROTOCOLSIf you test posit ive for COVID-19, the fol lowing isolationprotocols go into effect for you and any other person withwhom you have had direct contact.

Isolate for 10 days

Improving symptoms and no fever for 24 hours,regardless of a COVID test result

FACE COVERINGSRequired by State Mandate

All students shal l be required to wear a face cover ing whi leattending school or a school funct ion in any distr ict bui ld ing,faci l i ty, or other distr ict-control led area, and when r id ing indistr ict-provided transportat ion. Al l face cover ings mustcover the nose and mouth of the student. Masks and facecover ings must be worn by students regardless of the abi l i tyto maintain s ix feet of distancing. Students shal l wear facecover ings at a l l t imes except for the fo l lowing except ions:

Students may remove face cover ings when eat ing, dr inking, or dur ing a socia l ly distanced scheduled break

Students may remove face cover ings when engaged in physical educat ional act iv i t ies, as determined by the physical educat ion instructor

Students may be exempted from wearing face cover ings due to special behavioral or indiv idual ized needs or due to a documented medical condit ion. Other except ions may be made on a case-by-case basis by the Pr incipal , Director of Special Educat ion, or Distr ict Administrator

Bandannas, gaiters, and masks with exhaust valves are not a l lowed as they provide minimal protect ion for the wearer and those around them

FACE COVERINGS

The distr ict wi l l provide each student and staff member with three face cover ings

Students wi l l be responsible to wash face cover ings at home on a dai ly basis

If a student forgets their face cover ing, the school wi l l provide them with a disposable face cover ing for the day

All other ru les of the distr ict re lated to student dress (e .g. ,prohibit ions against c lothing or jewelry contain ing messagesrelated to sexual references, profanity, drugs, etc. ) applyequal ly to masks and face cover ings.

Students who refuse to wear masks or face cover ings shal l besubject to disc ip l ine consistent with other school att i re ru lesvio lat ions.

We are focused on del iver ing high qual i ty instruct ion for a l llearners. We plan to provide th is instruct ion face-to-face forstudents from ELP - 9 and in a blended learning exper iencewhich includes face-to-face and virtual learning for grades10-12.

Teachers wi l l post weekly plans forgrade levels and content areas that includevideos, instruct ions, Google Meet l inks, c lasswork,assessments, resources, off ice hours, and duedates.

Google Meet:This v ideo-conferencing platform, connected withGoogle Classroom, wi l l be used when teachersand learners need to have face-to-face meet ingswithout being in person. L inks to these meet ingswi l l be found within a learner ’s Google Classroom.Google Meets wi l l be recorded and posted to theGoogle Classroom to al low learners to connect toclassroom instruct ion asynchronously.

Students wi l l be provided with a distr ict- issued Chromebookto use for the durat ion of the school year. Those studentsattending in-person wi l l be expected to transport the devicehome and back to school each day. Accidental damageinsurance wi l l be provided by the distr ict for students ingrades ELP-2, and students in grades 3-12 wi l l have an opt ionto purchase ChromeCare Insurance. More detai ledinformat ion is located in the DSD Chromebook Agreementprovided on our website.

The Distr ict Technology Department wi l l support students withany device-specif ic concerns by offer ing loaner Chromebookdevices and repair services. For students attending school in-person, the school l ibrar ies wi l l remain the in i t ia l point ofcontact . For students attending virtual ly, an onl ine form wi l lbe provided on our website.

Our Technology Department can be contacted at 608-935-3307, ext. 3013 . We wi l l make every effort to respond within24 hours when school is in sess ion. Issues regarding specif icsoftware programs used for instruct ion should be directed to a student ’s teacher f irst , who wi l l reach out to the TechnologyDepartment i f needed. The distr ict current ly has mobi lehotspots that may be borrowed for home use by contact ingthe Technology Department.

Our Special Educat ion Department values providing freeand appropr iate educat ional opportunit ies for studentswith disabi l i t ies, to the greatest extent poss ible inal ignment with publ ic health guidel ines. Col laborat ion with fami l ies has always been an essent ia l part of thespecial educat ion process and cont inues to be dur ing th ist ime. Special educat ion providers wi l l cont inue to workwith fami l ies to address the unique needs of students andcol laborat ively ident ify the most essent ia l services foreach student based on the best learning environment forthat student. IEP’s wi l l be adjusted, as needed, for thecircumstances of the learning environment.

SPECIAL EDUCATION

There are special c ircumstances due to health andsafety needs that wi l l be considered on an indiv idualbasis for students with special needs. There areindividuals with in special educat ion where specialc ircumstances due to health and safety needs wi l l needto be taken into considerat ion. Services with in specialeducat ion wi l l occur in the most appropr iate educat ionalenvironment; however, due to COVID, the educat ionalenvironment may be more restr ict ive.
