Braun tunnels operate with themechanics of an open helicoid processunlike tunnels using a true achimedialscrew. This, coupled with our positivetransfer process, prevents roping andjamming providing the most superiortransport capability on the market.Unparalleled mechanical action – eachchamber washes with a similar level ofmechanical action as an open pocketwasher for exceptional wash quality.

The Braun design incorporates unrestrictedcounterflow in the main wash zone andseparately in the rinse zone – with thecleanest water in contact with the cleanestlaundry – using water turbulence to providewash solution exchange without damage tothe goods. Savings are maximized throughinternal water and energy recovery,maintaining controlled water temperaturesand chemicalconcentrations within eachspecific wash zone.

Receiving the clean laundry from the tunnel,the Braun SmoothFlow Batch PressExtractor uses advanced hydraulics tomaximize extraction efficiency and minimizedryer cycle times.

A nesting shuttle then either carriesextracted materials to the appropriate dryer,where the proper dry formulas areautomatically programmed in, or takesdesignated linen to a dryer bypass stationfor transport to the finishing area.

Fast dry times and energy efficiency are thehallmarks of Braun Pass-Thru Batch DryerSystems. A microprocessor-controlledmodulating gas valve maintains baskettemperatures accurately throughout theentire drying cycle. In addition tooutstanding performance, the BraunSmoothFlow Dryer is designed fordurability, ease of maintenance and acompact footprint. Following the dryingcycle, the dry goods are automaticallydischarged onto an unloading conveyor orinto a cart which terminates at theappropriate processing area.

Operation of the Braun Tunnel, Shuttlesand Dryers is managed from one MasterControl Station using Braun’s Washnet®

Laundry Management softwaresolution. This software links themicroprocessor controls of each machineso the DataManagement PCcan program,control and monitorthe real-timeoperations. The systemmanager accessesinformation via an easy-to-use interface.

Braun’s software keeps management up-to-date on the current status of eachBraun component. The software provideseasy programming and downloading offormulas, plus process/data accumulation,troubleshooting, and all machine statusreports, real time, remote and historical.The Braun help desk can providetroubleshooting and support from Braunheadquarters via modem or web access.

This software runs on a Microsoft®

Windows® XP platform. You can integratemultiple client PC’s into the control system to monitor processes from alternate locations.

As stand-alone units or key components ina fully automated system, Braun PT Pass-Thru Dryers are available in capacities of300, 500 and 700 lbs., and deliver years ofdependable, productive service.

The computerized controls are fullyprogrammable, accurate to 1.0 degree andcompletely self-diagnostic, and monitorboth inlet and outlet temperatures,continually making precise flameadjustments to keep the dryer environmentat the programmed temperature.

Braun PT series dryers use a linear heatsource to evenly distribute heat along thefull depth of the dryer basket, eliminatinglow temperature areas. Full burnermodulation results in precise basketenvironment temperatures, deliveringconsistent drying, evenly distributed heatand outstanding resource utilization, whilefull body insulation increases thermalefficiency and provides a more temperate,quieter workplace.

Our swing-out door design allows for easyaccess to the dryer basket and sealsformaintenance and inspection.

Lint Collection SystemBraun PT Series dryers feature a lightweight, easy to remove lint collectionsystem. Unlike others, this system does notrequire manual cleaning! The systemautomatically blows down the lint fromthe collection basket and removes it to thecollection unit outside the dryer at thebeginning of each cycle. This isaccomplished by utilizing a high efficiencyair knife.

Braun’s lint vacuum and canister are oncasters for easy mobility and can be usedon all Braun dryers with internal lintcollection systems.

The 55 gallon lint canister is made oftough and durable resilient material (unlikeothers made of fiberglass that can easilyshatter and break if dropped).

The lint vacuum port and blower exhaustwere engineered to be easily rotated. Thisoffers more flexibility to where the lintvacuum can be positioned within thelaundry facility.

PT, engineers utilized extensivealpha and beta testing andstate-of-the-art 3D modelingand finite element analysis(FEA) to ensure the structuralintegrity of all machineassemblies. In addition,computational fluid dynamics(CFD) was used to helpstreamline airflow andeliminate eddy currents,creating a more uniformtemperature distributionthroughout the basket and

improving dryer efficiency. Basedon the technology used during

product development, as well as size,efficiency and design, the Braun 700 PT

SafeLoad Shuttle System® significantlyenhances wash room safety! The chuteload provides operators a safe means forloading and unloading open pocketwashers and dryers, virtually eliminatinghazards associated with semi-automatedand automated wash alleys.

SafeLoad Shuttles feature a hydraulicallycontrolled loading device. Mounted ontothe shuttle, it allows the operator toengage it into the washer door opening.Once engaged, the operator can thencontrol the goods bag to open andautomatically drop through the loadingdevice into the washer.

Loading washers has been determined topresent the greatest safety risk in the semi-automated wash floor. This systemeliminates the need to manually push bagsinto a washer extractor.

This system is available with a “cockpit” for ride-on operation, or with a remote control panel. Both facilitate continuous processing.

Loose Goods Shuttles are available in the following models:

The three main components –the Alpha Spreader/Feeder, the DeltaIroner and the Omega Folder/Cross-Folder– are integrated into a single system whichcan be programmed with one-buttonclassification selections. This integrationallows the components to perform as one unit.

Within the modern laundry, the BraunFlatwork Finishing System may consist ofany number of Braun’s wide variety ofautomatic folders, stackers and conveyor lines.

The Spreader/Feeder brings your line upto speed smoothly and swiftly with error-free automatic centering of large pieces tooptimize the performance of your ironer.For smaller items, the Alpha can run in upto a five-lane small item configuration. Allmodels have microprocessor controls,variable speed conveyors and multiplefeeding stations. For maximumproductivity, each station monitorsoperators individually.

The Ironer delivers crisp flatwork with aworld-class finish. Speed is preciselymeasured and displayed on a digitalreadout. The inverter-type, variable speed,poly-chain drive is quiet, clean and slip-free. For ease of routine maintenance,high roll lifting provides easy access.

The Folder/Cross-Folder folds items to1/4” accuracy, delivering hand-foldedquality with speed and consistency. Theinverter, poly-chain drive system ensuresclean, quiet operation and lowmaintenance. The Four-Station Spreader/Feederprovides high-speed production withminimal operator training. Standardmicroprocessor control ensures preciseitem centering, at high speeds.

This machine accelerates the flatwork before releasing,for a smooth,straight, perfectly square leadingedge. Operator productivity isindependently monitored at eachstation. This Spreader/Feeder isavailable with an integratedvacuum deck. With this“two-in-one” capability, the vacuum deckarticulates up to provide for singlelane processing of small pieces suchas napkins and pillow cases.

The Braun Dual Deck, High Volume,High Production Spreader/Feeder is theindustry's fastest. Equipped with four feedstations and dual spreading decks,it canoverlap flatwork at speeds of up to 180FPM. For maximum productivity and high-speed operation, this the model of choice.

The Braun SpeedVac® Feed Tablehas been configured with dual vacuumboxes to ensure that the pieces being fedare taught and aligned. The secondvacuum box, positioned under thecarriage, draws apart the flatwork andspreads it flat, maintaining a non-skewedtrailing edge. No pressure wheels arerequired to keep the piece in contact withthe conveyor.

The vacuum boxes are adjustable, allowingthe operator to make changes for optimalperformance with different classificationsof flatwork.

The inside working width of the BraunVacuum Feed Table is 130 inches, with afeed height of 39 inches.

FLATWORK IRONERS

The Folder/Cross-Folder delivers hand-folded quality with Braun reliability.

The automatic folding sequence makestwo or three primary folds in flatwork aslarge as 130" x 120" or as small as 12"square. Then this folder makes up to threecross-folds, keeping selvage edges neatlyfolded inside.

ControlThe control on the Folder/Cross-Folder is field programmable with up to 99programs to make the exact series of foldsfor each flatwork classification.

Dynamic Fold Feature The folder is programmed to determinewhether an item should get 2 or 3 crossfolds on the fly. This feature allows fordifferent size goods to be processedwithout changing programs. This includesqueen size, king, and full sized sheets, oneafter the other.

The Folder/Cross-Folder can be specifiedfor left- or right-side discharge to suit theneeds of your facility, and is available withone- to four-lane primary fold capabilityand one- or two-lane cross-fold capability.

The optional Small Piece Accumulatordrapes small items on a bar until a

pre-determined stack count isreached. This allows the operator toquickly collect accurately countedbundles of finished goods.

The accumulator is microprocessorcontrolled with complete on-boarddiagnostics for trouble-freeoperation. Easily retrofitted to anyBraun Folder Cross Folder, the unit isalso available freestanding for usedirectly behind the Ironer. Optional Flatwork Sorting Stackers save

labor and maintain fold quality as theyautomatically sort, separate and stackflatwork from a continuous flow ofdifferently sized items.

On the line, the stackers sit side-by-side,accepting flatwork items or passing themon until each piece reaches the stackerprogrammed for its particular size. Up tofour stackers can be arranged in thismanner, and are easily field retrofitted toan existing Braun Folder Cross Folder.

Small Piece Folders are ideal for smallitems such as towels, pillow cases,underpads, scrubs and patient gowns.Each Sigma provides a variety of folds andstacks items to specific quantities of up to50 pieces. All models featuremicroprocessor controls, precise itemmeasurement, capability for Frenchprimary folds with cross-folds in halves,thirds or quarters, automatic stacking,plus automatic stain-torn reject andelectronic jam shut-off.

The Braun Small Piece Folder, Return-to-Feeder Configuration, bringsBraun performance to the smallest spaces.Smart, fast and compact, it makesefficient use of floor space and allows one operator to easily feed and unloadthe folder.

The Braun Sorting Small Piece Folder, in double & triple sort configurations,handles single wash loads with items intwo or three sizes, automatically adjustingfor width of fold or size-specific fold, thenstacking items according to size.

The Braun Small Piece Folder, RearDischarge Model, provides the samequality of fold as the Return-to-Feedermodel, but discharges goods to the rearof the unit. Rear Discharge Small PieceFolders can process as fast as youroperators can feed, for the highestproduction rates in the industry.Depending upon the model you choose,Braun Small Piece Folders can process inexcess of 1200 items per hour.

All Braun Small Piece Folders comestandard with 24V DC solid state circuitrywith troubleshooting capability and touchscreen controls.

SMALL PIECE FOLDERS

The Braun Knit Sheet Folder offers manyof the features of our popularFolder/Cross-Folder, in a compact size.Designed for knit flatwork, fitted sheets,bath blankets, thermal blankets and airlineblankets that require no ironing, the Knit Sheet Folder offers outstandingperformance.

Controls monitor the entire process, andcaster-mounting allows the compact KnitSheet Folder to fit almost anywhere, andmove in and out of service as required.

A compact folder/cross-folder and stackerin one unit, the Blanket & Fitted Knit SheetFolder can handle items as large as 55” x90”, fitted sheets, bath (flannel) blankets,and thermal blankets, all with Braunprecision, speed and reliability.

This Folder makes two primary folds andtwo cross-folds; all folds are knife throughpinch roll, and are adjustable to within1/4”. The infrared LED, photo-electricsensors have no reflectors and won’t befouled by lint.

The bilingual capable (English/Spanish)control is field programmable with up to75 available settings so that you can makethe exact series of folds for each item youare processing.

When operating with a Braun Stacker(optional), the settings such as stack countand conveyor advance can be adjustedsimultaneously from the Blanket Folder.This saves time and reduces user interfacewith the equipment.

Another option is the five high feature.This allows for stacking of up to fivethermal blankets.

The Braun Five Lane Small-Piece Visa®

Accumulator (FLSPVA5) is a free standing,caster-mounted accumulator for usebehind almost any flatwork ironer. Itaccumulates small flatwork goods, such astable napkins, at the rear on dual storagebars in each lane. The accumulator hasbeen configured to take the napkins offthe ironer and drape them in half over thestorage bars in stacks of up to 25.

The (SPVA4), operating with a primaryfolder or folder/cross-folder, is 120 incheswide and has a four-lane configuration. It is capable of accumulating pieces aslarge as 24" x 24".

The Braun Visa® Accumulator is also available in a (optional) 130” working width.

The Braun Small-Piece RotaryAccumulator (SPRA) operates as anintegral part of a primary folder orfolder/cross-folder. Mounted above thebypass table across the back of either theprimary folder or folder/cross-folder, therotary accumulator utilizes the foldersinfeed conveyor to move goods from theflatwork ironer discharge.

The SPRA is ideal for draping and stackingsmall-piece ironed cotton,polyester/cotton, or spun polyesterflatwork. Each item is automaticallymeasured to provide accurateaccumulating/draping of various sizeditems from 12" x 12" to 28" W x 36" L.The SPRA is available in 4 or 5 lane configurations.
