Cambio de uso del edificio Telefnica, situado en la Gran Va de Madrid, un edificio casi en desuso que por su excelente ubicacin podra alojar otras actividades.

El proyecto se trata de un MUSEO DE LA LUZ. Es un museo de experiencia, en el que se adquiere cono-cimiento a travs de sta.

Se basa en dos principios, la degradacin de la materia y de la luz, de manera que el espacio es cada vez ms amplio y hay un proceso de cambio desde la luz natural de la parte de arriba del edificio a la luz artificial del metro. sto nos sugiere un metodo constructivo, que consiste en ir eliminando materia poco a poco, de manera que en lo alto el edificio se conserve casi igual, pero a medida que vamos bajando se vayan eliminando primero tabiques y luego forjados, hasta que abajo de todo solo quede la estructura del edificio.

# Restructuring Telefonicas Building

Change of use of Telefnica building, located in the heart of Madrid, its a building almost in disuse and due to its excellent location could host other activities.

The project is a LIGHT MUSEUM. It is an experience museum, in which the knowledge is acquired through the visit.

It is based on two principles, the degradation of matter and light, so that the space is widening and there is a process of change from the natural light from the top of the building to artificial light in the subway. This suggests a constructive method, eliminating material gradually: at the top, the building is kept almost the same, but as we go down, we remove partitions and finally the floor structure until all that is left is the building structure.

MUSEO DE LA LUZ

Se propone una rehabilitacin del edicio de Telefnica, situado en la Gran Va de Madrid, un edicio actualmente casi en desuso y que por su excelente ubicacin podra plantearse que tuviera un nuevo uso.El proyecto es un museo, un museo de la luz, pero no entendido de forma convencional,sino como un museo que consiste en la experimentacin misma de los espacios. Un recorridotampoco convencional, pues es solo en un sentido, de la parte superior a la inferior, y conectadoluego con el metro, y no con la calle, una fortaleza de experimentacin de espacios muy desiguales,desde grandes espacios en los que solo se ve el esqueleto, la estructura del edicio, hasta espaciosmuy pequeos y que representan los distintos espectros del color.

Curso centrado en la rehabilitacin de un edificio a elegir. El trabajo se centra en el frontn Beti-Jai, antiguo frontn de pelota vasca que fue construido a finales del s.XIX, y reconocido como Patrimonio Histrico de Espaa en 1991.

Se plantea una reforma y un cambio de uso del frontn Beti-Jai, actualmente abandonado y casi en estado de ruina. La intervencin pretende dar ser-vicio a los vecinos del barrio de Almagro, un barrio con un 25% de personas mayores de 65 aos, muchas de las cuales viven solas.Gracias a su proximidad con el edificio contiguo, se plantea una intervencin integrada entre este edificio y el frontn Beti-Jai. Por ello creamos un sistema de alquiler de un espacio extra en la casa, otra habitacin, destinada a una persona mayor. La habitacin tendr dos accesos, uno por la propia vivienda y otro por el interior del edi-ficio del Beti-Jai, que cambia, convirtindose en un espacio de encuentro entre estas personas y en el que tienen acceso a servicios propios de un centro de da: gimnasia, asistencia mdica, etc.

Adems de este programa, el frontn sigue conser-vando su parte de pelota vasca, el acceso pblico se hace mucho ms fcil para los peatones, que adems podrn disfrutar de un espacio pblico donde poder hacer deporte o llevar a los nios.

Todo ello se consigue manteniendo la estructura metlica y aadindole a sta unas estructuras temporales y desmontables, que estarn listas para satisfacer las demandas de este sistema de alqui-ler.

# Experimental Interventions in Buildings

The course focuses on the rehabilitation of a building that each one has to choose. The work focuses on the Beti-Jai building, pelota court house that was built in the late nineteenth cen-tury, and recognized as Heritage of Spain in 1991.

We propose a reform and a new use of the pelota court Beti-Jai, now abandoned and almost in ruins. The intervention aims to serve the residents of the neighborhood of Almagro, a neighborhood with 25% of people over 65, many of whom live alone.Because of the proximity between the adjacent building and the pelota court, we think about an integrated intervention in the two buildings. So we created a system of renting of an extra space in the houses of the adjacent building; another room, intended for an old person. The room has two entrances, one in the house and another inside the building Beti-Jai, that mutate, becoming a meeting place for these people and a place where they have access to the services of a elderday center: gym-nastics, health care, etc.

Apart from this program, the pelota court has kept, public access is much easier for pedestrians who also enjoy a public space where they can play sports or play with the kids.

This is achieved by keeping the metal structure and adding to this, temporary and demountable structures, which will be ready to meet the demands of the rental system.

El ejercicio es el de resolver una estacin de telefrico (hipottico telefrico que atravesara la ciudad de Madrid) en la cntrica plaza de Callao.

Se propone una estrategia general de ubicacin de estas torres de telefrico, pues en Madrid existen muchos edificios desocupados o abandonados, casi todos, debido a la especulacin inmobiliaria.

Estos espacios son VACOS CONSTRUIDOS en las ciu-dades, pues no son un vaco visual , pero s un vaco funcional. Por ello las torres del telefri-co, se podran integrar en estos espacios, hacien-do que sufran una transformacin del espacio en s y de su funcin en la ciudad, unas estaciones de telefrico que generen otros usos y programas alrededor de ellas.

Se desarrolla el caso concreto de la plaza de Callao, introduciendo la estacin de telefrico en un edificio adyacente, reforzando as el espacio de la plaza como vaco funcional e histricamente indispensable en el centro de Madrid.

Se crea una estructura secundaria en el interior del edificio en la que se sitan las comunicacio-nes verticales y que acoge en su parte superior la estacin de telefrico.

The exercise is to solve a cable railway station (hypothetical cable railway which crosses the city of Madrid) in the central square of Callao.

We propose a general plan of location of these towers of cable railway in Madrid. There are many empty buildings, almost all due to urban specula-tion.

These are EMPTY BUILT SPACES in the cities, not a visual vacuum, but a functional vacuum. So the cable car towers could be integrated into these spaces, making space transform itself and its role in the city. The cable car stations are going to generate another uses and programs around them.

We develop the specific case of the square of Callao, placing the cable car station in an adja-cent building, reinforcing the square space as functional and historically necessary vacuum in the center of Madrid.

Secondary structure is projected inside the buil-ding. In this structure are located the vertical communications and on its top it receives the cable car station.

# Estructura invasiva para el nuevo uso

Se procede al vaciado del edicio, dejando la fachada, la cual se conservar creando una estructura metlica paralela a sta, que se una mediante cerchas metlicas a la estructura principal.Esta estructura se compone de 5 pilares, que son cerchas huecas en las que se encuentran las comunicaciones verticales directas (ascensores). Se crea una doble piel, y dentro de ella estn el programa y las circulaciones.

Propuesta de crear una escuela de futbol para el Club de Futbol Atletico de Madrid en la situacion del antiguo estadio de futbol del equipo,el Calde-rn, que ser posteriormente trasladado a otro lugar.

Pensando en el significado de la MEMORIA de un lugar, de un edificio; en la importancia que ha tenido como lugar de actividades e interacciones, el ejercicio adquiere otro sentido y otra proble-mtica. Se puede destruir algo sin ms y dejar su vaco? No se pierde una gran cantidad de informa-cin al borrar cosas sin pensar en su significado?

Conociendo el proceso de construccin del edifi-cio, la estructura se presenta como uno de los elementos claves y con ms identidad. Por eso se conservan los ejes de la estructura del estadio, sobredimensionando la nueva estructura y creando distintos espacios (que funcionarn como espacios pblicos) con distintas identidades y distintos usos.

The exercise is to create a soccer school for Soccer Club Atletico de Madrid at the place of the football stadium of the team, Calderon, who will be moved to another place.

Thinking about the meaning of the memory of a place, a building and the importance the stadium has as a place of activities and interactions, the exercise takes on another meaning and other pro-blems. Can you just destroy something and leave the vacuum? Do not miss a lot of information dele-ting things without thinking about its meaning?

Studying the process of construction of the buil-ding, the structure is the most important element and gives to the stadium its identity. This is why we preserved the exes of the stadium structure, over sizing the new structure and creating diffe-rent spaces (which function as public spaces) with different identities and different uses.

Arquitectura paramtrica con la utilizacin del software Grasshopper de Rhinoceros.

Urbanismo paramtrico, pensando en las relaciones abstractas entre los distintos elementos, pudien-do controlar el crecimiento de una zona gracias a unos pocos parmetros. Cada elemento es una torre, con una funcin especfica y en su relacin entre s y con el entorno va surgiendo el proyecto.

Parametric Urbanism, thinking about abstract relationships between items, controlling the growth of an area by a few parameters. Each ele-ment is a tower, with a specific function and their relationship with each other and with the environment develops the project.
