Introduction• Being a police officer is one of the most life threatening jobs that you can have in

the world. For example, about three hundred police officers are killed each year in the United States. Police officers have to take a lot of percussions so that they don’t get hurt or even killed. The police has unique training, many kinds of equipment, and many squads and units.

Equipment

The police have many kinds of equipment. For example, police officers have a firearm to shoot when they have to, hand cuffs to arrest people with, a bullet proof vest to protect them from being shot, a flashlight, and ammunition. Also, police carry weapons that are not lethal , but are able to get people on the ground. For example, police officers have a Taser that electrocutes people and makes them fall on the ground. Finally, police officers have pepper spay that when it gets in your eyes it burns and stings so that You can’t see at all.

Squads and units• The police have many squads and units. For example, the police have helicopter units, riot

units, police cruisers, bomb squads ,S.W.A.T team, and dog units. Bomb squads is a squad that is used to find bombs and to keep everyone safe from being hurt or even killed. The people on the bomb squad wear a protective suit that can protect them from explosions and shrapnel. Finally, dog units are used to find drugs that are hidden in places and drugs that are on people. Also, dogs are use to capture people that have run away.

Training• If you want to be a police officer you have to go through training. You have

to learn how the equipment you going to use work. For example, you learn how a Taser works and how much it hurts, so you get shot by the Taser to see how it feels. It is the same with pepper spray. Also, you go through combat training to learn how to fight close combat. And finally, it is very difficult to be a police officer.
