N-DEx Data Quality/Data Standards N-DEx Crime Data (beyond current NIBRS)

Standard definition of “Incident” for N-DEx purposes and reconciliation with existing NIBRS “Incident” definition

Establish minimum standard of data elements for N-DEx entry and N-DEx query Establish mandatory, conditional, and optional N-DEx data elements and define each Delineate which data element(s) & data value(s) “fit” into existing NIBRS Segments and/or

develop new N-DEx Segments as needed and map to NIBRS Separate all NIBRS “90Z-All other Offenses” into individual offenses for N-DEx purposes

and define Facilitate improvements to existing NIBRS data elements as needed Facilitate utilization/acceptance of NCIC offense codes in N-DEx

(and map to NIBRS offense codes) Create a standardized “Incident Report” form to be generated by N-DEx relative to all N-

DEx/NIBRS data elements and values Other (to be identified through N-DEx development, prototyping, and piloting)

N-DEx Federal Crime Data (Federal Crime Reporting Program) Standard definition of “Event” for N-DEx purposes and reconciliation with

existing NIBRS “Incident” definition Map/Code all federal criminal offense codes to NIBRS offense codes (including

Military Justice Codes) Review Air Force military offense codes (currently mapped to NIBRS by the

agency) and validate mapping Assess all data routinely contained in “Event Reports” and establish federal

data elements and data values Map above federal data elements and data values to NIBRS (where possible and

resolve those that cannot be mapped) Other (to be identified through N-DEx development, prototyping, and piloting)
