Women's Conference

The REDEEMED Beloved Daughter Women's

Conference will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Fargo Holiday Inn. This will be a time

for women to discover more richly their identity as

beloved daughters of the Father, independent of what they do or have done. Out of this identity

arises the vocation to become gifts of love that bear

the fruit of joy in the world. Keynotes for this con-ference will include Colleen Carroll Campbell

(former presidential speech-writer, EWTN news an-

chor, and author of the award-winning spiritual memoir, My Sisters the Saints) and Sister Mary

Elizabeth, SV (Vicar General of the Sisters of Life),

as well as a world-class performance by acclaimed virtuoso pianist and composer, Eric Genuis. For

more information, including a full list of speakers

and a schedule of the day, or to register visit www.fargodiocese.org/redeemedwomen<http://

GRASS MOWING

Although it may seem far away with all the snow, spring will soon be here including grass that needs

mowing. I have learned that we need to find some-one new to mow the grass. If

anyone thinks they may be in-

terested or has an idea of who we might contact, please let me know as soon as possible so we

can negotiate details.

DRIVERS: Please leave me a note or send me an email if you drive mon-

signor so I can be sure to get you a check. Thanks!

Hatton Area Community Members and Churches invite you to a

feel free to bring a nonperishable food item for the food pantry.

MESSAGE FROM MONSIGNOR LAUDATO SI 150-151

During the last month because of my travels and re-cuperation time I have not been continuing the re-view of Pope Francis' letter Laudato Si. Instead I

have had Mercedes print paragraphs from a "talking points" summary of the letter as a whole. I believe

there is a value in seeing the Pope's actual words and concerns as he wrote them. Today, I continue to

comment and quote from his letter. The strongest element that I continue to see in Fran-cis' letter is that we always recognize the dignity and

value of people. He recognizes the importance of beauty and design. He believes that cities should

protect areas that make people feel at home. Design, architecture, urban and neighborhood planning need to work together for the overarching goal of honoring

the dignity of human beings. 150. Given the interrelationship between living space

and human behaviour, those who design buildings, neighbourhoods, public spaces and cities, ought to

draw on the various disciplines which help us to un-derstand people's thought processes, symbolic lan-

guage and ways of acting. It is not enough to seek the beauty of design. More precious still is the service we

offer to another kind of beauty: people's quality of life, their adaptation to the environment, encounter

and mutual assistance. Here too, we see how im-portant it is that urban planning always take into consideration the views of those who will live in

these areas. 151. There is also a need to protect those common

areas, visual landmarks and urban landscapes which increase our sense of belonging, of rootedness, of

"feeling at home" within a city which includes us and brings us together. It is important that the different parts of a city be well integrated and that those who

live there have a sense of the whole, rather than being confined to one neighbourhood and failing to see the

larger city as space which they share with others. Interventions which affect the urban or rural land-

scape should take into account how various elements combine to form a whole which is perceived by its

inhabitants as a coherent and meaningful framework for their lives. Others will then no longer be seen as

strangers, but as part of a "we" which all of us are working to create. For this same reason, in both ur-ban and rural settings, it is helpful to set aside some places which can be preserved and protected from constant changes brought by human intervention.

POSSIBLE CHANGE OF SUMMER MASS SCHEDULE I plan to discuss with the two Parish Council a major change during the summer. The attendance on Sunday goes way down between lakes and vacations. It seems wasteful to have three Masses for ½ to ¾ of the people. I want to consider having just 2 Masses, Saturday evening at 5 PM and Sunday at perhaps 9:30 AM. From Memo-rial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend, on the First, Third and Fifth Sundays Our Lady of Peace would have the Sunday Mass and St. Agnes would have the Saturday evening Mass. On Second and Fourth Sundays St.

Agnes would have the Sunday Mass and Our Lady of Peace would have the Saturday Evening Mass. A possible exception might be the MayPort Summerfest when I would want the Sunday Mass at Our Lady of Peace so I could participate in the Sunday Ecu-menical Service. At this point this is just a proposal. If this would create a hardship for anyone, let me or a Parish Council mem-ber know. If on an individual occasion, someone could not attend a Mass because of work, I have the power as Pastor to dis-pense individuals from a specific Sunday obligation.

Cardinal Muench Spaghetti Feed: Join us for our free will offering Cardinal Muench Spaghetti Feed Fundraiser on Sunday, March 26th from 11am-4pm at St. Paul's Newman Center, 1141 N University Drive Fargo, ND 58102. This event is hosted by Car-dinal Muench and NDSU Newman Alumni in sup-port of the Cardinal Muench Discernment Floor. It will be a great time to connect with old friends, support the future of our faith, and learn about an opportunity to transform the next generation of our leaders!

I am writing to seek out some random pictures of Fr. Bernie from his ca-reer as a parish priest. Could you ask your parishioners to submit either electronically or hard copy ( I will return them) pictures of him with serving in any parish activities.....we plan to put together a CD of pictures to run during the open house. It would be so fun to include each one of his par-ish churches in the CD. It can be anything....pics of a baptism with fami-lies, church celebrations, 1st communion/Confirmations, weddings/ fami-ly get-togethers, etc. It will be fun for him to reflect on the past 50 years!! s e n d p i c t u r e s t o m e e l e c t r o n i c a l l y : s t t i m o [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> In the sub-ject ...Schneider pictures or mail....(give me return addresses) or (submit from the church and I will return them to the Church) St. Timothy's Church Attention: Vicki Fruetel 1207 Oldham Avenue Manvel, ND 58256
