1 Primary side flow rates are represented by curves. 2 Available pressure drop outside the LCS50.3 The system pumps can operate anywhere within the shaded box.

• Compatible with all data center liquid cooling solutions that requirewater or a water/glycol solution

• 150 kW cooling capacity

• Control to local dew point (optional)

• Maximum uptime design

• Dual power feeds

• Redundant pumps

• Redundant modulating valves (optional)

• Isolation valves for hot swapping of all major components

• Communication with Building/Data Center Management System(BMS/DCMS)

• Large, easy-to-use controller

The increasing heat load densities in datacom equipment centers require ever more sophisticated approaches to cooling, including

liquid cooling. Designed for data center cooling, the LCS50 is a 150kW Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU) that supplies precise tem-

perature-controlled coolant to your liquid cooled racks and transfers the waste heat to facility water.

• High reliability: The LCS50 is designed to be extremely reliable. Redundant pumps ensure the system always provides coolant

to your racks. The controller tracks the actual operation hours for each pump and the backup pump is tested periodically to

guarantee its operation if needed.

• Protection and isolation of datacom equipment: Using a CDU is strongly recommended in ASHRAE’s Guidelines for Liquid

Cooled Datacom Equipment Centers. According to ASHRAE, the benefits include:

° “Preventing condensation by delivering coolant to the rack, equipment, or electronics above the dew point,”

° “Isolating the electronics from the harsher facility water,” and

° “Minimizing the coolant volume near the technology so that a coolant leak would be less catastrophic.”1

• Easy installation: The unit is equipped with casters for easy mobility and leveling feet that disengage the casters. The inlets

and outlets of the primary (facility) and secondary (process) coolant loops can be configured for overhead plumbing or a

raised floor. Commissioning service and extended warranty are available.

• User-friendly, easy to configure controller: The menu-driven controller is very easy to configure. It warns of any system problems

via various alarms and offers security protection. The user can select from several temperature and flow control schemes as well as

set alarm offsets. The unit includes RS232 and Ethernet (optional) communication for remote monitoring.

• Energy efficient: Liquid cooled server cabinets are significantly more energy efficient than air cooling thereby providing lowest

cost of total ownership. Additionally, Lytron has selected energy efficient pumps to further reduce electricity consumption.

Control to set point Allows user to define temperature set point and unit will control coolant delivery temperature to ±1°C. ● ● ● ●

Control set point temperature Allows the user to input dew point offset so that the coolant temperature will fluctuate ● ●based on dew point based on the dew point temperature.

Control set point based on Allows user to input set point temperature and a minimum dew point offset. If the set point ● ●fixed temperature with user temperature is above the dew point offset range, the LCS50 will deliver coolant at the set point defined dew point override temperature. If the set point temperature is within the dew point offset range, the LCS50 will

deliver coolant based on the dew point until it can return to temperature set point control.

Control to volume flow or Allows user to select volume flow set point or pressure differential set point. ● ● ● ●differential pressure

Temperature, flow, pressure, and Displays the current secondary coolant temperature, flow, and pressure, and the current position ● ● ● ●modulating valve status reporting of the modulating valve.

Heat load removed Displays heat load that the unit is currently removing. ● ● ● ●

RS232 communications Allows monitoring of current status and all alarms via RS232. ● ● ● ●

Ethernet communications Allows monitoring of current status and all alarms via Ethernet. ● ●

Alarms for low/high temperature, Alerts user that the parameter is outside of the user defined limits. ● ● ● ●low flow, low differential pressure

Pump failure alarm Alerts user of a pump failure. System automatically switches over to the secondary pump. ● ● ● ●

Power failure alarm Alerts user of a power failure. System automatically switches over to the secondary power feed. ● ● ● ●

Component usage hours Alerts user that the pumps, valve(s) (optional), and strainers (optional) have run for more ● ● ● ●than the user defined hours and preventative maintenance is required.

Security protection Allows user to lock-out controller set up menu. ● ● ● ●

Backup testing Allows the user to define the frequency and duration of the pump and valve (optional) testing. ● ● ● ●

Event tracking Provides user with last 20 alarms/component switch over and the date and time the alarm occured ● ● ● ●and was cleared.

Power Recovery Delay Allows the user to define unit start up delay on power switch over. Unit contains a battery ● ● ● ●backup to keep the controller (only) powered during a power switchover so the unit is immediately functional after the power delay period.

Primary side monitoring Additional instrumentation to monitor primary coolant loop. Provides temperature and flow ● ● ● ●monitoring of primary coolant loop and facilitates troubleshooting.

LCS50 Controllers

Option Benefit

Dual modulating valves Incorporates a second modulating valve. In the unlikely event of a failure, the controller automatically switches over to the redundant valve. The controller allows the user to define the frequency and duration of the valve testing.

80 mesh coolant filters Filters on both the primary and secondary side coolant loops. Protects LCS50 and customer’s equipment from blockage or damage due to particulate build-up and extends pump life. Filters can be cleaned while the unit is running.

Alternative fluid inlet and Allows for piping to terminate at the lower back of the LCS50 for dropped floor configurations.outlet locations

Internal insulation package Eliminates condensation on secondary coolant loop components when operating the LCS50 below the dew point.
