LD Type 1000 Ton Rotary Slip

As a result of its continuing commitmentto product development, Access OilTools, Inc. is proud to announce its new1000 Ton Load Distributing Rotary

Slip (patent pending). The slip, whichincorporates some unique and innovativefeatures, is designed to address theproblems that can arise from the everincreasing drill string loads now beingencountered in deep water drilling. It isthe highest rated API manufactured rotaryslip on the market today.

In conventional slips the bottom ledge ofthe slip segment, on which the bottominserts sit, tends to carry a

disproportionately large amount of theload on the slip. Failure of a slip hastraditionally tended to manifest itself inbending or toeing outward of the bottomof the slip segment on this ledge.

In the new Access LD Type RotarySlip, each insert rests on its ownindependent ledge, and in this way theload is more evenly distributed over the

full vertical height of all inserts in theslip.This design reduces the importance ofthe slip toe, thereby reducing thepossibility of slip toe failure.

The design of the LD Slip allows the fullinsert contact area to be retained, thusreducing the possibility of crushing thepipe.

The slip comes with a floating hinge pindesign which allows the three slip

segments to move individually and equallytowards the center of the pipe. Thisallows all segments to transmit equalforces towards the center of the drill pipeas the string weight increases.

Each slip is load tested to its rated capacity before shipment and will come with

full documentation including material certifications, proof load test certification,

magnetic particle inspection and operating and service manual.
