FrenchAlps, from271,000eurosSAVVY families looking fora skiing property to investin have been snapping upnew apartments inlesser-known Alpinelocations from Frenchdeveloper MGM.

Less than two years afterannouncing plans to buildthe properties, MGM hassold all but a handful of the90 apartments nearingcompletion in its newrésidence de tourisme, inVal Cenis, in the Haute-Maurienne.

Similar high demand isexpected in Valmorel, a skiresort within the GrandDomaine area currentlylittle-known to Britons,where MGM is building 86new apartments; and in thevillage ski resort of Mont-genèvre, in the SouthernAlps, where MGM is build-ing 54 leaseback ski-in, ski-out apartments at its LeChalet des Dolinesdevelopment.

With significantinvestment from the localauthority providing a hostof improvements in recentyears, such as new skislopes, lifts and hi-techsnow cannons, Montgenèvre

is proving increasinglypopular with investors.

Indeed, with a further20m euros to be invested ina new lift to whisk skiers upto new slopes planned at asnow-sure altitude of morethan 3,000 metres and a newleisure complex, Durancia,due to open in 2013, thisSouthern Alps village isdefinitely an up-and-coming

destination. This month,MGM starts work on itssecond development inMontgenèvre – Le Napoleon.The development willcomprise 50 two, three andfour-bedroom apartments,many of which will enjoypanoramic views of themountains and slopes.

Currently being soldoff-plan, the apartments are

expected to attract familiesseeking a year-roundholiday home convenientboth for the ski slopes andthe Mediterranean coast,which is just three hoursaway by car.

Four-star facilities withinLe Napoleon will include anindoor pool, fitness suite,gym, sauna, Jacuzzi andsteam rooms, as well as a

beauty centre with a varietyof treatments on offer.

All of MGM’s new homesin Montgenèvre will havepine internal finishes withtiled and parquet floors, thebuildings will be clad intimber and stone and eachcomes with cellar storage, aski locker and parking.
