CampsLe Rosey

Le Rosey Camps offer the opportunity to experience a glimpse of the Rosey spirit, become more independent, forge lifelong friendships and of course, have fun in a short couple of weeks.

A unique experience in true Rosey style!

Live in an international and multi-cultural environment (78 nationalities), where swapping from one language to another becomes as easy as counting “one, two, three”.

Enjoy the breathtaking scenery, whether by the lakeside or in the Swiss Alps with our wide range of sports and excursions. Develop your artistic talents, theatre skills and musical ability in Rolle at our futuristic Paul & Henri Carnal Hall.

“Le Rosey has prepared me to explore all of my different passions. So hopefully I can have a major in the sciences, but also take courses in the arts, take courses

in different languages and really develop the skills that I have learned and loved at Le Rosey. The one thing I will cherish from Le Rosey now that I’m graduating is the

friendships that I’ve made and the community around me. It’s not just your class that you graduate with – it’s the people who have been here for

generations and I feel like I share this sort of bond with all these people. To anyone who is coming to Rosey I would tell them to be themselves. It’s

such an open and accepting place. It has really allowed me to develop who I am and not hide from my true identity... to make real friends and create

meaningful connections with people from all over the world.”

In Rolle, 30km from Geneva city, Le Rosey’s main campus (for the boys) and the La Combe campus (for the girls) are situated within landscaped grounds covering 30 hectares.

The campus was established in 1880 in the Château du Rosey, with its extensive estate. The historic original building, dating back to the 14th century, was then a run-down medieval castle, but it was carefully renovated and the campus improved during the 20th century.

The Paul & Henri Carnal Hall, known as the school’s Arts & Learning Centre, counts with a cooking lab, visual arts and photography rooms, dance, theatre and music studios. At the heart of the building, the 900-seat Rosey Concert Hall is located.

Gstaad Mountain CampusMy Family: June / July / August

During our summer holidays, the Schönried campus in the picturesque Swiss region of Gstaad —a famous mountain resort nestled in the Swiss Alps and nowadays home to world-famous celebrities— hosts summer camp participants in large Swiss chalets set in some of the most beautiful scenery in Switzerland.

This region abounds with sites of natural beauty and has an excellent infrastructure, allowing visitors to make the most of sporting and mountain pursuits in safety.

Since 1916 the whole school has moved up to the mountains during the winter season to offer its students a term of sun, snow and winter sports whilst continuing their regular school programme.

MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE WEEK ―

Discover trails in the Bernese and Wallis Alps, learn rock-climbing, cross obstacles, crevasses and glaciers. Work as part of a team while setting up and taking down a camp every day, and learn how to live in a community. Most nights are spent in mountain huts.

A unique opportunity to enjoy a superb adventure in the heart of the spectacular scenery of the Swiss Alps.

OFFSHORE NAVIGATION WEEK ―

After this exciting week in the mountains, you will then fly from Geneva to join our 102-foot Sailing Yacht, Ipharra, for a splendid cruise; the islands you will visit change every year.

Learn how to handle a large yacht, using both engine and sails; practice sailing manoeuvres; learn how to calculate routes using maps and electronic navigation equipment; appreciate the importance of teamwork and mutual respect; and, of course, relax and enjoy water sports.

Excellence Camp

STAFF AND TEACHERS ―

During the Mountain Week you will be under the guidance and responsibility of a mountain-seasoned Le Rosey teacher, a professional mountain guide and a trained first-aider. During the offshore Sea Week, the Le Rosey teacher will accompany you along with the whole Ipharra crew: captain, mechanic, cook chef and steward.

The yacht also has a dinghy used for exploration, a light Laser sailing boat used for sailing lessons; electric powered sea bobs (also used for exploration), snorkelling equipment, a kayak, water-skiing and wakeboarding equipment, not to mention all the usual modern security equipment - GSM and satellite communication and navigation systems.

HOW DOES THE boarding house work?Camp teachers live on the floor with the students, ensuring everyone’s well-being and safety. During mealtimes, each student is assigned a table which is also shared with the camp teachers.

Boys and girls sleep in separate buildings. However, sports and activities are mixed. In Rolle, students are split into Juniors (until age 12) and Seniors (13 onwards). The main difference is an earlier bedtime and the possibility of doing different activities as well as living in different buildings.

All our rooms are spacious twins with ensuite bathrooms. In Rolle, the SAT Prep Camp students and some of the youngest Juniors may be in a co-ed building, where one floor is for boys and one floor is for girls.

CAN WE MAKE A room mate request?Of course! As long as they are the same age, and naturally, boys and girls sleep in separate buildings.

If no special request is provided, we will organise the rooms’ occupancy before camp starts, and make sure that each room is occupied by 2 different nationalities/cultures to make sure an intercultural exchange can happen.

WILL someone be at the airport TO WELCOME MY CHILD?

A Rosey desk is situated in the Arrivals area at Geneva Airport. Children travelling alone are met by our staff and driven to camp. Transfers to and from Le Rosey are included in the camp fee as long as they take place on the official dates of start and end for camp. Outside these dates, the transport will be charged to the student (around CHF 150 between Rolle and the Airport and CHF 500 between Schönried and the Airport).

No transportation is organized from/to Zürich Airport. No plane reservation, flight changes or visa applications can be made by Le Rosey Camps during your child’s stay with us.

If you are travelling with your child, we are unable to offer you joint transportation. The Lake Geneva Campus in Rolle is just 30 minutes from the airport. The Gstaad Mountain Campus in Schönried can be reached from the airport in 2h30. Both campuses are accessible by car or train.

WHAT DO I DO IF MY CHILD HAS health issues?Parents are requested to provide a health questionnaire for their child at the time of enrolment. Please make sure to include any important medical information we need to be aware of, such as allergies or medication. Le Rosey Camps is not responsible for any missing information or health concerns ensuing as a result.

Healthcare professionals are available 24/7 on campus. They are qualified to give first aid and deal with minor ailments. They are in regular contact with local doctors, will set up medical appointments and ensure that the children take their medication. Any prescribed medication is kept and administered by the nurse; self-medication is not allowed.

Our staff is vigilant with regard to the school rules on the personal hygiene of each child such as taking a shower daily, brushing teeth and wearing appropriate clothing. Anti-bacterial hand gel is available in dining rooms.

CAN I visit the camp?Visits are not allowed during the week. During the weekend, a diverse programme of activities and excursions is on offer. Students who choose to leave for the weekend with their parents, may do so on Saturday after lessons and must return on Sunday by 6.00pm. The Direction must receive a written invitation by midday Friday at the latest.

During the Excellence Camp, students are requested to remain on site during the transition weekend.

WHAT kind of food IS THERE AT THE CAMP?

International inspiration meals are served in buffet style. Meals are prepared by our own chefs who pay meticulous attention to quality, presentation and flavour to produce healthy, balanced menus.

Vegetarian menus are also offered. Any food allergies should be clearly indicated in the health questionnaire. Meals on the menu containing pork will be indicated. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide Kosher or Halal meals.

WILL I GET FEEDBACK FROM MY child’s teachers? After completion of the full camp programme, you will receive and end of camp report by e-mail which includes an evaluation of your child’s achievements during the camp.

A FINAL note...Our five programmes are led by professional staff who work during the school year at Le Rosey, one of the leading boarding schools in the world.

You can leave your children with peace of mind knowing that they will gain in self-confidence and autonomy – but only if you are ready to not interfere in their daily life! Give them the chance to develop, and limit your communication with them: it might be difficult at the beginning, but it will pay dividends!
