WELCOME TOLEADERS

CLUB

• All Leaders working Overnights will report to the Staff Person in charge upon arrival. Leaders are under the direction of the Staff Person in charge and their assistants for the duration of the Overnight

• Arrive at the YMCA at 8:30pm. Overnights last from 9:30pm until 7:30am. Do not arrive late or leave early without prior permission from the Teen Leadership Director or Overnight Staff.

• During all games and activities Leaders are expected to interact with the kids and be positive influences. Do not dominate the games and activities. Leaders must participate in all activities – when you are engaged the kids will be, too.

• During pool time Leaders will be in the appropriate locker rooms with the kids. When the kids are swimming Leaders should be in the water or sitting on the side of the pool interacting with the kids. The Lifeguards are responsible for a lot of kids, they should not have to discipline the Leaders

• While in the Youth Center Leaders should interact with the kids and watch over them. Leaders are not allowed to play video games or use the computers during this time.

• During pizza and food time, Leaders will help with preparation and handing out food. You will be able to eat after the kids are served. Do not attempt to hold any pizza back for yourself for later.

• During sleeping time Leaders need to sleep in the same area as the kids. If you are not sleeping, the only other area you may be in is the area designated by the Staff.

• Leaders may not wander the building at any time during Overnights.• The number of Leaders needed to work an overnight is on the Sign-up sheet. Please do not sign

up when all the slots are full. Do not show up to work an Overnight for which you have not signed up. Anyone doing so will be sent home.

EXPECTATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS FOR OVERNIGHTS

• Remember that you are a role model.

• Overnights are excellent opportunities for Leaders to learn and

develop leadership skills. You will also have fun.

• Leaders are expected to set good examples for the kids, don’t make

the Staff spend their time disciplining you.

• Leaders help make these programs possible at the YMCA. Thank you!
