Autobiography
Chucks,vintageskirtsandwildnaturalhair,LeafsstylescreamsofherCaliforniaroots.The
daughterofan independentfilmmaker, Francisco Toscano,and child- starAlisonMills, cast
memberof1960s sitcomJuliaandanA&MRecordingarKst,Leaf isaproductofsuccess,
desKnedtobethearKstofherKme.
Leaf began playing the guitar at age four, and at twelve years old entered herfirst talent
contestwhereshewasmercilesslybooedoffstage.With tearsflooding fromher eyes her
fathermoKvatedhertoGetbackoutthereandsinganothersong!Courageously,shedid,
andacquireda newsenseofempowermentandperseverance.BytheKmeshewas inhigh
school, independentlyreleasedherfirstsolo albumaffecKonatelycalled,Seventeen. She
alsoco-wrotethethemesong,withhermother,toherparentsfilmVirginAgain,shownat
the2002CannesFilmFesKval.
As an AthleKc Directors Honor Roll student at Syracuse University, Leaf could be found
playing her own instrumental version of the NaKonal Anthem before compeKng in a
basketball game and wriKng songs on the team bus. A[er acquiring a degree in
CommunicaKonswithaminorinMusicIndustry,LeafreturnedtoLosAngeles,openedupfor
StevieWonder,andlandedaroleonanNAACPandShineAwardnominatedepisodeofThe
CWsGirlfriends,alongsideSaulWilliamsandCommon. Shesalsoshared the stagewith
RoyAyers,ArrestedDevelopmentandDionneFarris.
A[er thepassingof her father, Leaf foundherway to Atlantaand in 2008 released an EP
enKtledLeafCoolEclecKc,whichconKnuestobelicensedtomajornetworksandwebsites
includingHGTVandOprah.com.Justmonthsfollowingtherelease,atthebehestofherolder
brother,LeafdroppedinonanaudiKon,notknowingitwasBETstalentcontestRealityShow
WelcometoDreamland,starringproducersDrummaBoy,JazzePhae andrecordingarKst
Vawn.MillionsoffansstayedgluedtotheirTV sets for sixweeksand cheeredasLeafwas
crownedthewinnerandQueenofDreamland.Leafispresentlyrecordinghernextproject
andestablishingheryouthempoweringnon-profitGrowFoundaKon.
