Weiber leaf area meter is compact, accurate tabletop instrument to check area of leaf. The

operation is very easy, even a layman can operate. This instrument can also be used to check area

of non-transparent flat surface material like cloth/paper/plastics/leather etc. This instrument is

based on photometric technology.

HOW TO USE

1.1 Switching: press the "power" key, LCD display "Leaf Area Meter-B"'; Press the "Power" key

again to shutdown.

1.2 Functional options: press the "function" key to scan the menu, then press the "confirm" key to

operate. Function is as follows

1.3 Measure the leaf area: Press the "function" key and choose the "M1" function, then press

the "confirm" key to enter into the ready condition. Then LCD will display.

Put the leaf into the meter, place the leaf below the pressure lever, the initial position shouldn't cover

measuring window. Fixe the measuring rope to leafstalk.

Press the "confirm" key again, then the LCD display:

L000


W000 shows the changes valued of width, L000 shows the value of length, if the initial length is not

0, can press " " key to clear. And then slowly pulled out the leaf, finally press the "V" to display the

measurement results.

001 shows the first measurement, A= 123456 means the area of this measurement, unit is mn2.

Press the "V" key again and shows the average:

If measure again, press "Confirm "key, the LCD will display:

W000 shows the changes value of width, L000 shows the value of length, if the initial length is not 0,

can press " " key to clear. And then slowly pulled out the leaf, finally press the "V" to display the

measurement results:

A = 123450


A= 123450 means measuring areas. Unit is mm2. Press "V" key again, display two times average.

(M means average)

002 means two times measuring datas, the average data is 123453. Press the "V" key again, the

screen display 123450.

Press "Confirm" key, can test the same leaf for many times. If want totest the other leaf. Just press

"Function" key, restart to test and calculate the average.

Press "OK" key, reserve the data. LCD display:

RecN means recording number, reserve the final measuring data, average data and measure times

into the memory, can store 200 groups of datas.

Note: After pulling out the measuring rope, shouldn't release the rope in a flash, should pulling back

slowly, otherwise will damage the rope.

1.4 Show the records: Press the "function" key, choose the "M2" function, then press the " confirm "

A= 123456


001 means the current recording number, 006 means the total records in the memory. A= 123456

means the measuring area for 001. Press the "V" key to shows the average:

N means the leaf is tested two times. The average M= 123456. Press thee "V" and " " key to scan

other records.

1.5 Delete the records: Press the "function" key, choose the "M3" function, then press the "confirm" k e y .

LCD display "Are your sure? " Press "confirm" key, could clear all the records in the memory.

Note: The function will clear all the records in the memory.

1.6 key, LCD display:

W means the width is 70mm

1.7 Measure length: press the "function" key, choose the "M5" function, then press the "confirm",

LCD display:

Pulling out measuring ropes to one side of the leaf. Press " " key to clear the data. Then pulling out

measuring ropes to the other side of the leaf. The LCD will display the leaf length.

Note: Length and wide th can't be reserved.

2. Software

2.1 Properly connected to line of communication, run computer communications software.

Communication is used default setting. Baud rate: 4800

Parity bit: None Data bit: 8, stop bit 1, not choose "hex", "stop", "Clear" and

"line-by-line display". Should set com number according to serial port.

2.2 Press "function" key, choose "M6" function, then press "confirm" key to send datas.

2.3 The window will display the received datas, Click "Reserve the datas" , the data (.TXT) will be

reserved into file folder. Before receiving next time, click "clear receiving”

2.4 Data formats: 001 014586 011964 05

001 is recording number, 014586 is the final area data, unit is mm2, 011964 means average data is

011964, 05 is measuring times.

2.5 In the software data area, user can edit the data and text, add remarks.

Serial Port Terminal:

1. What is 'Free Serial Port Terminal' ?

Free serial port terminal is a serial communication application that is used to receive data from and

send data to a device through serial communication port.


The program can be run under Win98/Win2000/WinXP/WinVista. It is not guaranteed to be run

under Win7. If you need Unix-like(Linux) version, please contact us or visit our website for more

support.

2. Where can I find a serial communication port on my computer?

It is quite easy to find a 9-pin port at the back of desktop case. Though laptop computer may not

have such a port, a usb-serial transfer module can do the job for you. How to get a usb-serial

transfer module, please contact us or visit our website for more information.

3. How to receive data from the devices?

Follow the steps below:

a). Launch the Free Serial Port Terminal. Then, click settings->COM port settings, you'll get a

setting dialog as below:

You may only need to change the value of Bit per second, please look up user manual of the

device for details about serial com port settings.


b). Click the 'Open' button. The computer would be ready to receive data.

c). Click the "Send" button of the device to send data to computer. Generally, the data would display

immediately on the screen. If not, please try again. If you can't get any data from the device after

several attempts, please contact us for more information.

4. How to save the received data appeared in the screen to a file?

If you want to save the received data to a file, please click: Log->Start logging. And a dialog would

popup for a file that the data would be saved to. After you input a valid file name, then the data

received would be reallocated to the file just chosen. If you needn't the time stamp, click the right

key of mouse, chose Columns, deselect the Time Stamp. Next time, the program would not display

any time stamps and you would get plain data.
