The difficulties of processing the Shea Nuts into the Shea Butter in Europe, North and South America or Asia is the transport costs. To produce 1 kg of the Shea Butter, you need 2.2 kg of Shea Nuts, so as you understand it is much cheaper to produce Shea Butter in West Africa, the staff cost here is also much lower.

Shea butter is an off- white or ivory-colored fat extracted from the nut of the African Shea tree Shea butter is a triglyceride derived mainly from stearic acid and oleic acid. It is widely used in cosmetics as a moisturizer, salve or lotion. Shea butter is edible and is used in food preparation. Occasionally, the chocolate industry uses Shea butter mixed with other oils as a substitute for cocoa butter.
