1.Design

ThecommitteereportedthatEric,JenandChantalmetwithrepresentativesfromUnlimitedPlayin

earlyAugust.UnlimitedPlayisanonprofitandthefirstcompanytofocusonbuildingfullyinclusive

playgroundsinthemetroSt.Louisareaovertenyearsago.LikeCunningham/Play4All,theyworkasa

designandfundraisingsupportfororganizationsthatwanttobuildinclusiveplayspaces.Whilethey

normallychargeafeefortheirservices,theyhavestatedthattheywillwaivetheirnormalfeesinorder

topartnerwiththeHudsonPTO.WhilethecommitteeleadslikedCunningham/Play4All,they

recommendedpartneringwithUnlimitedPlayforthefollowingreasons:

-theirtrackrecordandreputation

-theircontactsandpreviousexperienceinsecuringcorporatesponsorshipsandworkingwithdonors

-theirfamiliaritywithPRandlocalmedia

-theirpassionandcommitmenttothisproject.

Basedonthisrecommendationandensuingdiscussion,thecommitteeunanimouslydecidedtomove

aheadinpartneringwithUnlimitedPlayontheHudsonplaygroundproject.Thecommitteewillcontact

UnlimitedPlaytodraftaMemorandumofUnderstanding,andwillmeetwithLisaHilperttoclarifyhow

toliaiseandcommunicatewiththeschoolanddistrict.

2.EventsSubcommittee

Sarahsharedalistofpossiblefundraisingeventsfortheplayground,includingMouseRaces,Hudson

GlowDance,NerfGunwar,acarnival,andathemedrummagesale.Thegoalofthesubcommitteewas

toproposeeventsthatwouldbegearedtofamilies,andnotjustadults.Giventheprojecttimeline,the

committeeagreedthatfundraisingshouldbeginassoonaspossibleandshouldencompassonelarge

eventandtwotothreesmallerevents.Dreasuggestedthatthesmallereventsshouldbeadvertisedas

partofaFridayFamilyFunNightseries.ThefirsteventwillbeaHudsonGlowDance,scheduledfor

Friday,October26.Thecommitteealsodiscussedthatthebudgetforthesesmallereventsshould

accountforalowoverhead.

BrettreportedthathehasorganizedafundraiserfortheplaygroundthroughWestlakeAceHardware,

scheduledforSeptember29,from10-2,tocoincidewiththegrandopeningofhisstore’sBBQarea.He

askedforvolunteerstohelpsellfoodduringtheevent.

3.MeetingSchedule

GivensomeschedulingconflictsandoverlapwiththeregularPTOmeetingsthisyear,thecommittee

discussedtheneedtochangethemeetingdaysandtimes.ADoodlepollwillbesentouttodetermine

thebesttimesforthecommitteetorescheduletheirmonthlymeetings.Sincesummerisover,the

committeewillalsoresumemeetingattheschool.

4.NextSteps

ThecommitteewillmoveforwardonpartneringwithUnlimitedPlaywiththegoalofbeginningthe

designprocessassoonaspossible.
