ANNUAL REPORT

“The only purpose of education is not knowledge,

but results-producing action.”Q U O T Ecompi led by the LEAP Foundat ion

I am so proud to see how much the LEAP Foundation has grown since its rst program in 2008. In the past ve years, LEAP has grown from our Founders’ passion for helping students, into a healthy nonprot impacting the lives of students across the globe.

The 2012 LEAP Program marked our nonprot’s 5th youth leadership program. At this event, over 375 students & 60 alumni volunteers converged on the campus of UCLA – making 2012 the largest LEAP to date!

LEAP’s successes would not be possible if it weren’t for the advocates who have been supporting our nonprot since the beginning. Whether it is be volunteering as a mentor or sponsoring a student to the program – we greatly appreciate all that you have oered LEAP.

At this time, I would like to publically thank, LEAP’s Co-Founder, Dr. Bill Dorfman for all that he has done & continues to do for LEAP. Dr. Bill makes himself available to our team year-round and always is willing to help LEAP in any way possible. As the Executive Director, I couldn’t ask for a better person to work with.

Please explore the 2012 Annual Report as it will provide you with a snapshot of LEAP’s recent successes as well as some insight into several students’ LEAP experience.

In gratitude,

Anthony Granados

The LEAP Foundation is

a 501(c)(3) nonprot organization committed to help students from around the world uncover professional and

personal achievement by teaching them the real-world keys to success; such as goal-setting, mentorship,

self-motivation, professionalism, relationship building and eective communication skills. All of these skills are

vital to success, yet omitted from most traditional educational systems.

Each Summer, our nonprot hosts a week-long

event at UCLA for 450 participants (ages 15-24) from

around the globe. Based upon the student’s age,

they are either assigned to our High School Program

or our Young Adult Program.

In both programs, the students are exposed to a

curriculum based upon real-world experiences and

proven methods to gain success. At the end of the

week, students leave more motivated, and

empowered with a concrete action plan for success.

The LEAP Foundation is unique in that it is designed to

serve high performing & high potential students.

Many students are recommended to the program by

their peers, teachers or other youth organizations. We

believe that all young adults should have access to

LEAP’s curriculum - regardless of the student’s

nancial situation. To this end, LEAP provides need &

merit-based scholarships to over 55% of its

participants.

Our 2012 student prole can be found on the adjacent

page.

At LEAP we believe that “the only purpose of education

is not knowledge, but results-producing action.” To

measure the actions taken, and the results being

achieved by our alumni, we hired a third-party rm to

conduct a survey. The survey assessed the skill level of

students in the following areas: goal-setting,

mentoring, academics, and professionalism.

The evaluation found graduates held a high

self-ecacy in the skills taught by LEAP and are

reporting making signicant progress towards their

goals, having productive relationships with mentors,

earning high grades in school, and are highly

condent in their career decision and their ability to

project a professional image.

The LEAP Team shares an overwhelming desire to help

as many students as possible – however, LEAP

attributes much of its success to its ability to connect

with each student it impacts. Because of this, the

organization has chosen to increase its capacity and

outreach based upon its strategic plan

K E N M E Y E R S LEAP is an incredible opportunity for students to

break internal barriers while developing life long

skills. In my two years with the LEAP association I

met some of the best people and created

success-generating habits. I highly recommend this

program to anyone looking to grow personally and

professionally.

C H LO E T H O M P S O NDue to the support of my mentors and the skills that

I gained at LEAP, I learned how to set down my goals

clearly and work towards them. In the 12 months

since LEAP, I was able to live out my dreams by

holding my rst art exhibition (in a foreign country

nonetheless) and managed to reach my goal prot

within two weeks. Now, weeks into the exhibition, it

shows no sign of slowing down and I’m so grateful

that LEAP has helped me get here much quicker

than I could have ever imagined.
