Who We Are…Learn it Educational Solutions Ltd. are the official providers of LEGO™ Education Services in Ireland.We provide services such as workshops/camps for children as well as workshops/training for schoolsand more.

We are Ireland’s only authorised provider of LEGO Education, something which we are very proud of.As you might expect, LEGO Education are very protective of their brand. We have been working withthem for the past three years to bring our LEGO Education classes/camps/workshops to Ireland. Allour staff have undergone many weeks of training and all are Garda Vetted. We have a full childprotection policy in place and are fully insured.

LEGO® Education has been creating solutions for pre-schools and classrooms for 30 years. Theskills and techniques that the LEGO System for Learning embodies meet many of the needs of 21st

century learners. LEGO Education solutions enable students to be active, creative and collaborativesolution-seekers. In this way their instinct to learn is stimulated, and they are motivated to apply theirlearning in new contexts, which means that they embark on a self-directed learning process. We callthis being ‘LEGO Smart™’.

LEGO Smart students use LEGO bricks and digital tools to solve problems creatively and to excel atworking with others and thinking critically. By working in this way, they develop their understandingand ability to retain knowledge of key curriculum concepts, and therefore do well in school and onhigh-stakes tests.

Over the next few pages you’ll see details of the various workshops we can offer you. There are anumber of ways we can organise a visit to your school. Every school is different and each of ourworkshop packages can be tailored to meet your needs.

We can run multiple workshops over the course of one or more days so that every class in the schoolget’s to participate or we can run longer sessions for 1-2 classes spanning over the course of a day ormore.

Planning Your School Visit…

In order to make our workshops run as smoothly as possible we do have a number ofrecommendations and requirements.

Class Sizes:The ideal class size for each workshop is 20 children or less. While we can accommodate more, thestudents will get more from the workshops with classes of these sizes. Our maximum class size is 28students; for larger classes we recommend splitting the class into two separate workshops or runninglonger workshops.

Location:Ideally we will be located in one room for the duration of the workshops, children will come from theirclasses to us to partake in the workshops. This way we can set the room up for the duration of theworkshops and save on time between workshops. Projectors/whiteboards would be a bonus, as wedo have slide shows/demos we can show the students. We also require power points in each room,as we will be using laptops for certain workshops.

We offer a range of in-school workshops. Our qualified staff will come to yourschool, lots of LEGO in hand, to run some fun-packed workshops for your students.

Our Workshops…

Our Early Learning workshops aresuitable for Junior and Senior Infants.

School Start themes are based on LEGOEducation kits using Duplo bricks. As childrenbuild and test their models, they explore theways in which familiar objects work.

They experiment with concepts such as forceand motion, balance, stability and buoyancy.

Our WeDo™ (Junior Robotics) workshops aresuitable for 1st-3rd Class.

WeDo® Junior Robotics is perfect forintroducing robotics to young children. Itencourages playful learning where childrenbuild fun LEGO models with motors andsensors. They then connect them to acomputer to program behaviour.

Our WeDo workshops enable students tolearn, construct and use the motion and tiltsensors along with the drag and dropsoftware to bring their models to life...

Example Workshops…

60 min - Early Machines & Mechanisms:

Spinning TopChildren build a spinning top and launcher and learn howgearing and balance will affect it’s motion.

Measuring CarChildren build a push car and learn how to measuredistances and see how gears work.

Junior & Senior Infants

60 min - WeDo (Junior Robotics):

Penalty Shoot outChildren build kickers & keepers and learn about sensors,motion, calculating distance, predictions and have a penaltyshoot out competition.

Spinning TopChildren build a motorised spinning top, using a sensor tocontrol the motor and learn how gearing can increase anddecrease speed. They also learn about programming loopsand timing.

1st, 2nd & 3rd Class

Our Machines & Mechanisms workshops aresuitable for 3rd-6th Class.

Our workshops help students deepen theirunderstanding of how forces can affect motion andexplore concepts of energy. Students buildcomplex mechanisms and use them to makeaccurate observations, measurements and recordsand even design their own solutions.

Our Mindstorms® workshops are suitablefor 5th and 6th Class.

LEGO® Mindstorms® enables students todiscover Science, Technology, Engineeringand Mathematics in a fun, engaging,hands-on way. Combining LEGO buildingwith software and curriculum activitiesallows students design, program and controlrobots. Students can build robots and usesoftware to plan, test and modify sequencesof instructions from a variety of real liferobotic behaviours.

Example Workshops…

75 min - Machines & Mechanisms:

Trundle WheelChildren build a trundle wheel to measure distances. They use thewheel to measure areas of surfaces, using fractions to calculatedistances. Modify wheel to measure longer distances.

Land YachtChildren build a land yacht and learn about how the surface area ofthe sails will affect how the yacht travels. Children will calculatesurface areas and work out the optimum area for the perfect sail.

3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th Class

90 min - Mindstorms:

Robotic Car Course ChallengeChildren build a motorised car and will learn about measuringrotations, finding circumferences and plotting. They will thenprogram their car to complete one of our courses.

Bumper CarsChildren will build a motorised car and design a bumper tomount to it. Using touch sensors they will program their car toreact when it hits an object.

5th & 6th Class
